THIS week the Juddmonte organisation announced the 2025 mating plans for some of its high-profile mares. They include two of the most celebrated racemares of recent years.
Juddmonte’s two home-bred Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe-winning mares now reside within its European broodmare band at Banstead Manor Stud. Enable (Nathaniel), a two-time Arc winner, will travel across the Channel for a visit at Haras de Bonneval with Siyouni (Pivotal), whilst Bluestocking (Camelot), last year’s European champion older mare, will commence her stud career with a visit to Dubawi (Dubai Millennium) at Dalham Hall.
The 2025 breeding season will also welcome a high-class lineup of newly retired maiden mares. Dual Grade 1 winner Whitebeam (Caravaggio), Group 2 winner and the classic-placed Matilda Picotte (Sioux Nation), Group 3-winning Dubawi filly Ottery, and listed-winning Coppice (Kingman), a sister to Calyx, will all visit Frankel (Galileo).
In addition to these exceptional mares, Frankel’s 2025 book includes a selection of pattern winners and producers, such as Agave (Dubawi), Bird Flown (Oasis Dream), Brostaigh (Footstepsinthesand), Juliet Sierra (Bated Breath), the $1,700,000 purchase Nay Lady Nay (No Nay Never), Proviso (Dansili), Repose (Quiet American), Shutter Speed (Dansili), Special Duty (Hennessy), the 4,500,000gns buy Teona (Sea The Stars), Viadera (Bated Breath), Zarinsk (Kodiac) and Zatsfine (Oasis Dream).
Kingman’s book
Meanwhile, the book for Kingman (Invincible Spirit) will feature group-winning newcomers Time Lock (Frankel), who hails from the same family as promising Kingman colt Cosmic Year, and Wendla (Ulysses), a daughter of Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf winner Intercontinental (Danehill). He will also receive other notable mares such as Dandhu (Dandy Man) who cost 750,000gns, Calyx’s dam Helleborine (Observatory), Hot Snap (Pivotal), the dam of the promising Kingman filly Swelter, Isabella Giles (Belardo), and Soffia (Kyllachy), as well as Scintilating (Siyouni), the dam of Royal Ascot winner Fairy Godmother (Night Of Thunder).
Further notable matings include Emulous (Dansili), the dam of Bluestocking, returning to Camelot (Montjeu) in the hope of producing a full-sibling to her Arc-winning daughter, whilst Time Chaser (Dubawi), the dam of Time Lock (Frankel), will return to that dual Group 3 winner’s sire.
Additional high-profile matings for 2024 stakes-producing mares include Pavlosk (Arch), the dam of Group 1 winner Babouche (Kodiac), visiting Frankel, Obligate (Frankel), dam of dual Group 3 winner Lead Artist (Dubawi) visiting Too Darn Hot (Dubawi) at Dalham Hall, Shared Account (Dansili), the dam of three stakes winners including last year’s André Fabre-trained juvenile Better Together (Oasis Dream), visiting Lope De Vega (Shamardal) at Ballylinch Stud, and Fount (Frankel), the dam of Apollo Fountain (No Nay Never) who won a listed race at two for Fabre, visiting Darley’s Blue Point (Shamardal) at Kildangan Stud, alongside the group-winning sprinter Sacred Bridge (Bated Breath).
