THE Group 2 Park Stakes was another to suffer from a small field at Doncaster last Saturday, but Sandrine (Andrew Balding/Oisin Murphy) was able to get back to winning ways having run right up to her best when a close third behind Kinross in the City of York Stakes, and her last two runs have been a notable return to form, coinciding with the fitting of a visor.

An 11/2 chance in a race where Spycatcher was a warm favourite, she travelled well behind leader Audience (John and Thady Gosden/Rab Havlin) here and quickened on demand to beat that rival by three-quarters of a length, with Spycatcher a disappointing third, beaten three lengths in total.

Karl Burke’s gelding had beaten her by further when the pair were second and sixth in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville, but Sandrine has clearly improved for the fitting of headgear, while Spycatcher failed to match that form.nderfoot conditions.
