What we are doing in eventing is equally applicable to the breeding of racehorses. The obvious direction of travel is that the various technologies, combined with our ability to crunch the data, will ensure that the right horses are doing the right jobs in the right way, with lower injury rates and an altogether more efficient production system.

Do you follow the Thoroughbred Makeover in the USA?

I think it is a great concept and certainly worth exploring over here. It creates great interest not just in the celebrity retirees but also in the lesser lights which can adapt smoothly. We are competitive people and that edge in the format highlights the people most skilled at retraining and stimulates more participation. Let’s give it a go!
