FOLLOWING recent trends, a strong contingent of online buyers had a major influence on the trade at Cavan last Wednesday. In a solid day’s business, there were eight five-figure returns and while the clearance dipped a little from recent renewals, the averages held up well. Overall, 71% of those forward changed hands, at an average of €5,596 which contributed to a good day’s turnover of €514,850. Demand was at its strongest in the older horse sector, especially for those with competition form.

It was also evident from the live performance footage, that the standard of production had improved significantly. This obviously impacted on the online appeal, while those who had posted smart pre-sales videos also reaped the rewards.
