1.40 Welcome To The Racing Home For Easter Festival Maiden 7f

Toy can make it third time lucky in this seven-furlong maiden. The latest to emerge from the outrageously successful Galileo-You’resothrilling line, this filly has finished second on her only two starts, the latter of which came on the opening day of the turf season at the Curragh. She showed up well there and was ultimately beaten narrowly by a smart-looking type in Perfect Thunder. With fitness on side now, Toy should be able to get off the mark.

Culcor can chase her home. He ran nicely on his debut over this distance at the Curragh, picking up well towards the end of the maiden won by Malex. He should be able to step forward now. First-time-out horses trained by Paddy Twomey are always worth following, so keep an eye on Relevant Range.

Run The Jewels and London Palladium were second and third at Leopardstown recently and make appeal off the back of those runs however they are drawn very wide and that could be significant on the round course.

Navorrosse has fared slightly better in this regard and might be worth chancing on her seasonal return for Pat Fahy. She ran well on her seasonal debut when second on the straight course here last season, before going one better on the same track next time out. She also had a couple of decent efforts later on in the season off her current mark and she has the guidance of Colin Keane today.

That’s Just Dandy ran promisingly on his seasonal debut when second to Spanish Tenor at Naas and he can go one better now. The four-year-old was also making his seasonal debut for Jessica Harrington, having been moved on from Patrick Turley’s yard following a Dundalk maiden win last October. He has lots of scope to improve now on just his sixth start.

This is really competitive with a couple of interesting stable debutants, not least Admiral Nelson, the former Aidan O’Brien inmate, who starts with Ger Lyons today.

That said, while Comfort Line is having his 29th start for Mick Mulvaney, he ran to a very good standard on his seasonal debut to be second to a handicap snip in Raadobarg in the Irish Lincoln. He’s drawn well here so should be involved again.

Thunder Kiss has to concede weight all around but she’s rock solid and still looks the one to beat. Ger Lyons’ mare was a significant improver last season, taking a Dundalk handicap off a mark of 83 before progressing to her current mark of 105, running to that assessment on her last three starts.

A course and distance winner, she could improve further this season, but even for now looks a good option, with her excellent record of finishing outside the top two on just two of her 10 runs.

Barrington Court makes appeal at these weights but it’s noteworthy that she is meeting Thunder Kiss under the same terms of their previous meeting at Naas, where the latter finished two lengths ahead. Powerful Aggie is another progressive sort who could land a blow, while Rumbles Of Thunder is an interesting French recruit for Paddy Twomey.

Bringbackmemories can take advantage of a good draw and race fitness. The Ger Lyons-trained gelding showed significant improvement from his debut last September when third to Tosen Lydia at the Curragh, with the runner-up in that contest running well in another maiden next time out to give the form a solid look. This son of Iffraaj should improve for the experience and match practice and will be tough to beat.

Ruler Legend finished second on his sole start last season and is a clear threat on his first start of the season, but there are also very interesting newcomers: Aidan O’Brien’s Martinstown (a Galileo son of Alive Alive Oh) and Olympicus (an American Pharoah son of Rumplestiltskin).

French Claim gets a tentative vote in a trappy contest. Paddy Twomey’s colt impressed on his only two starts last term, winning first time up in a Listowel maiden before catching the eye when a staying-on fourth to Duke De Sessa in the Eyrefield Stakes. The form of that latter race has worked out well through the winner and the runner-up Piz Badile, third and first in the Ballysax Stakes earlier in the month. The extra furlong should suit French Claim and he can lay down a claim for the season ahead.

In such a tight contest, race fitness could be significant for Freedom Of Speech, but she also showed on her first run - third to Mother Earth in the Group 3 Park Express - that she may well have improved through the winter.

This is a good contest and it could well go to Safecracker who looks well treated off a mark of 86 on the basis of his effort to finish just one length away from Interpretation in a Curragh maiden last June.

That Aidan O’Brien-trained colt is now rated 110 and both he and Safecracker pulled six lengths clear of Haziya, who has come out and won already this season. Safecracker won his maiden at Dundalk next time out before finishing third in the Red God Premier Handicap. He is interesting now back on turf.

Hell Bent is another four-year-old who might just have a little in hand of his current assessment. He was hit and miss last season, but still finished up with two wins and two seconds, and his latest effort saw him finish second to Pita Pinta, who went on to a much higher level thereafter. With just eight runs on the book, Hell Bent has more to offer now.

Aghaboy makes plenty of appeal now on his handicap debut. Kevin Prendergast’s gelding struggled to make a mark on three maidens last season but he was much better on his seasonal debut, when running an eye-catching, staying-on seventh to Malex in a seven-furlong maiden.

That was easily his best effort and he has lots of scope to improve now, on just his fifth start, his second of the season and coming up to this trip of 10 furlongs.

Action Motion was another who caught the eye on his seasonal debut at Leopardstown, where he finished eighth to Simply Glorious in what looked a much stronger heat than this. He should strip fitter now and it won’t be a surprise to see an improved effort.
