Irish Point appears to have been found a winnable race on his first start in this country. The Gordon Elliott-trained four-year-old won an AQPS Grade 1 over mile and a half in France, beating a horse that has since won three from three over hurdles. While the form of those French races is hard to evaluate, on paper at least, it looks of a fair standard. With nothing out of the ordinary amongst the opposition, the Robcour gelding is taken to make a winning debut over flights.

Splashing Out has shown enough in two starts to suggest she is capable of winning races. However, she lacks the experience of the Elliott runner here and might be the type to do better once handicapped.

Itswhatunitesus can get off the mark on his second start over hurdles. A smart bumper horse last season, he made a winning debut at Navan, before finishing a respectable fourth behind Facile Vega in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown. There were plenty of positives to take from his recent hurdling debut when second at Galway last month. A reproduction of that run should see the five-year-old home in front.

Embassy Gardens was a place behind the Elliott horse when the pair met in that Leopardstown bumper in February. However, having made much of the running, the Willie Mullins-trained gelding was entitled to weaken late on.

Dancing Jeremy would probably prefer an additional half mile but might get away with the drop in trip, provided the ground remains soft. A winner over fences at this venue in January, he subsequently reverted to hurdles when scoring at Clonmel. The grey should be all the better for a recent reappearance at the latter track last month.

Buttons And Bows had been running consistently prior to winning at Killarney recently. A former course and distance winner, she should run her race but most of her better efforts have come on quicker ground.

Riaan disappointed over three miles at Sligo last time but had shown enough previously to suggest he could be well handicapped. The Philip Reynolds-owned gelding may not have stayed the trip, so it is worth dropping him back to two and a half miles on this, his handicap debut. Trainer Gordon Elliott continues to churn out the winners and this five-year-old should be getting his head in front soon.

Halsafari appeared to be revitalised by the return to Michael Bowe, when a staying on second over two miles here recently. The nine-year-old should appreciate stepping back up to his optimum distance and looks a serious contender.

Martha Divine is one of the least exposed in this field, giving her more scope for improvement than her rivals. The Paul Nolan-trained mare looks a thorough stayer who should appreciate a slog on this ground. As a half-sister to former Cork Grand National winner Out Sam, it would be fitting if she made a winning start to her chasing career at this course.

Whiskeywealth has few secrets from the handicapper at this stage but the six-year-old compensates in terms of experience. He should really appreciate going a stride or two slower dropping back into this grade.

Telmesomethinggirl faces a stiff task on her chasing debut but the former Cheltenham festival winner looks up to the task. A point-to-point winner for Colin Bowe, the seven-year-old enjoyed her finest hour when winning the Grade 2 Mares Novices Hurdle at the 2021 festival. Luck deserted the Kenneth Alexander-owned mare in the Mares Hurdle last season but she looks an exciting prospect for novice chasing.

Dinoblue had a huge reputation last season and was sent off favourite for the Mares Novices’ Hurdle on the back of just the one start. She faded late on before blotting her copybook somewhat on two subsequent starts. However, she remains a very exciting mare who could yet fulfil her undoubted potential now switching to fences.

Embittered has the class to concede weight to these rivals, especially once taking Kieran Callaghan’s claim into account. The Joseph O’Brien-trained eight-year-old is a Grade 3 winner over fences and shaped with distinct promise in the Galway Hurdle on his penultimate start. He can readily be forgiven a slightly below par run in the Kerry National last time, as it was his first run over three miles under rules.

Espion Du Chenet beat the selection at Punchestown back in May but there is unlikely to be much between the pair at these revised weights. Trainer Louise Lyons has done an incredible job with the eight-year-old and he looks a live threat.
