12.58 Paddy Power From The Horse’s Mouth Podcast Maiden Hurdle 2m

Lot Of Joy is an intriguing runner on her first start over hurdles. Last seen when a close third in the Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh, the former French-trained filly now has a mark of 97 on the flat. While the daughter of Camelot may appreciate a stiffer test of stamina, the testing ground should ensure that the minimum trip will be sufficient.

Solitary Man sets a fair standard among those with previous hurdling experience. Second on his racecourse debut at Roscommon recently, he should come on from that run and looks the main danger.

Feddans showed enough on her recent return to suggest she can be competitive. The former bumper winner made much of the running at Wexford before weakening late in the race.

Her tendency to jump to her right on that occasion shouldn’t be as much of an issue now that she returns to a right-handed track.

Walk In The Brise won her bumper at the fourth time of asking, having met one too good on each of her previous starts.

While this contest looks as though it won’t take a great deal of winning, the Willie Mullins-trained mare may well have to settle for the second spot once again.

Grand Soir may be capable of defying his penalty and completing the hat-trick. The John McConnell-trained gelding is proven over the course and distance, having landed a similar race here last time.

He looks a thorough stayer who should be up to winning this before having his sights raised in the weeks and months ahead.

Whatsavailable switches back to flights having failed to complete on both starts since going chasing. Although yet to conclusively prove his stamina for this trip, the Mouse Morris-trained son of Saddler Maker is worth close consideration.

El Barra should prove very hard to beat now that he reverts to novice company. An experienced handicapper, he finished third in the Galway Plate earlier in the season, before unseating in the Kerry National last time.

The conditions of this race really suit the Willie Mullins-trained gelding, so granted a clear round he should resume winning ways.

Idas Boy made a successful fencing debut over this course and distance recently. The eight-year-old was roughly on a par with El Barra over hurdles but lacks real chasing experience. Nonetheless, he appears the horse most likely to throw down a challenge to the Mullins runner.

Glenloe is beginning to run out of excuses over fences but it is difficult to ignore his claims in a race of this nature.

A smart staying handicapper over hurdles, he has had very few opportunities to race in excess of three miles since switching codes.

On the one occasion he was faced with a marathon trip, he showed something like his best, when fourth at Punchestown. This contest is likely to have been a long-term target.

Recite A Prayer holds obvious claims on his recent second in the Kerry National. The form of that race has been well advertised in the interim and Willie Mullins has few equals when it comes to landing these big handicap prizes.

Walnut Beach can continue the recent winning run of the Pat Flynn yard. Runner-up in a stronger contest here on his penultimate start, the gelding didn’t look to stay when upped to three miles at Clonmel last time.

Back at the minimum trip, over which he won his sole race to date, the son of Free Eagle also has nothing to fear from the likely testing conditions.

Go Gill Go has been running consistently in similar races of late, so should get her chance at some stage. A former maiden hurdle winner, she has dropped to a mark off which she should be competitive.

Mollys Mango can step up on her recent debut third and take this concluding race. The form of the Punchestown bumper in which she had her introduction has been well advertised, with both the second and fifth winning subsequently.

Although vulnerable to a smart newcomer, the Gordon Elliott-trained four-year-old looks best of those with previous experience.

Mote Park is the obvious one amongst the newcomers. A half-sister to three previous winners, she is sure to be well forward coming from the Willie Mullins yard.
