TODAY, the South East Region of Dressage Ireland is holding its first show of 2025 at Barnadown, a venue the region used once before back in September 2021 for its summer championships. A second fixture is scheduled for the Co Wexford facility on Sunday, March 16th.
Following the recent annual general meeting via Zoom, the SER committee for 2025 was announced as comprising Lynne Cassidy (Chairperson), Rita Naughton (Secretary), Ivan Dowley (Treasurer), Anne Marie Dunphy, Ruth Daunt, Amy-Jo Peskens, Caitríona Ní Bhriain, Paula Moriarty and Vicky Cloney.
Midland and Western Region
The Midland and Western Region is holding a show tomorrow at Annaharvey Farm. Unfortunately, and here we can blame the aftermath of Storm Éowyn, the results from the regional show at Iceford on Sunday, February 2nd appeared too late for a report to be included in last week’s issue.
Clare Fitzsimons (List 4), who was the sole judge on duty at this low-key fixture, awarded what was marginally her highest score of the day, 68.65%, to Category 1 rider Ellen O’Hara, who topped the overall leaderboard in the 10-runner Preliminary DI6 with her 16-year-old cob mare Miss Pollypockets.
Next weekend will be the busiest of the year to date, with five shows scheduled, starting on Saturday when the Northern Region holds the next round of its Brass Stables UK and Ireland winter league at Knockagh View.
The Leinster Region is due to stage its first fixture of 2025 at CoilÓg on Sunday, when there will also be shows at Drummindoo Stud (MWR), Roscrea Equestrian (North Munster Region) and Maryville Stables, where the South Munster Region is holding leg five of its Childéric winter league.
