LAST weekend, five judges were engaged to officiate at Leinster Dressage’s two-day show at Redhills, where the action on Saturday was confined to those competing at Preliminary and Novice levels plus those in the six Trailblazers’ classes.

This fixture marked the final of the region’s spring/summer league and Caroline Lynch secured the Preliminary title with impressive wins on her Irish Horse Sport gelding DS Bouncer 007. In the 23-runner DI5A judged by June Loughran (List 5), Lynch and her multi-purpose five-year-old Moylough Bouncer grey scored 76.43%, while in the 20-strong DI6, judged by Lynne Cassidy (List 3), the Co Meath combination scored 74.23.

Scores of 70% or over were also recorded on Saturday by the league winners, Michaela Dunne on the eight-year-old ISH mare Bit Of Mischief (72.50 in the Junior Preliminary DI5A) and by Georgia Cadogan on the similarly-aged ISH mare Stars Of Jupiter (70.86 in the Junior Novice DI27A). Cindy Wagner won the Novice DI21, judged by Brona O’Mahony (List 4), on her six-year-old Pura Raza Española gelding Naipe XXVII (71.55%).

On Sunday, scores of 70% or over were awarded in six classes, two of those being at Elementary level. In the 10-runner DI55 judged by Jane Whitaker (List 2), Kevin Acres topped the overall leaderboard on Con McCarthy’s six-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare Nybola Turfhorst (72.50), a chesnut daughter of Blue Hors Zackerey.

Fourteen combinations appeared before Bernie Foley (List 1) in the DI52, where she awarded her highest score of 71.81% to Sonya McCormack riding the ISH gelding Oakfield Jappeloup. McCormack and the Rebel Mountain grey were the sole starters in the Whitaker-judged DI five-year-old test, where they scored 76. In the FEI seven-year-old test, where they too were unopposed, Sorrell Klatzko and Fiorino Hit AE earned a score of 73 from Foley.

Whitaker awarded Oleana Cowan on RCA Royal Mist a score of 72.50 in the FEI eventing two-star test, while Laragh Byrne initiated an FEI pony double with Steendieks Dali Gold (70.41%) in the Foley-judged individual test.

A Medium double was recorded by Meila O’Grady on Volante Libero, while Tara Hayes recorded a mixed double, winning the Advanced Medium DI90 on Sandora BS and the Advanced DI100, in which she was the sole starter, on Ferrero K.
