THE Northern Region of Dressage Ireland held the third leg of its Brass Stables UK and Ireland winter league last Sunday at Knockagh View Equestrian.

At Novice level, Linda McIlwaine topped the scores of Joanne Jarden (List 1) in the BD6 (73.55%) and of Ivor Harper (List 4) in the DI24A (72). McIlwaine was on board the Irish Sport Horse gelding Roundthorn Oreo, her five-year-old Vittorio bay, who was bred by Patricia Connon out of Amour Roundthorn (by Sandreo).

Caroline Herron posted a cross-grade double with her ISH gelding Clantara Lord Louis. In the Harper-judged Elementary BD5, Herron and the six-year-old Hoeks Ludo W grey scored 70.94, while in the Medium DI77, where they were the sole starters, Jarden awarded them a score of 62.

Riding her home-bred 14-year-old mare Beltrim Double G, Lucinda Blakiston Houston recorded an uncontested double in the two Para Grade V Grand Prix, judged by Jarden, scoring 65.38 in the A test and 65.79 in the B test.

There were 10 starters in both non-restricted Preliminary classes. In the Jarden-judged DI8, the overall leaderboard was topped by Alexandra Ryan with her Connemara gelding Ambition (70.58), an eight-year-old dark dun by Drumbad Fletcher Moss.

Limavady’s Eilish Smith was awarded Harper’s highest score (73.57) in the DI15 for her test with Ros Morgan’s unregistered Vos Surprise, an 11-year-old Voss gelding, who the owner evented at EI100 amateur level this season, winning at Tullymurry 1 and recording numerous placings.
