Ambiente Friendly

Epsom Derby runner-up sets the standard here. Proved his stamina when easily landing the Lingfield Derby Trial on his penultimate start. Looked a winner when travelling easily over a furlong out in the classic itself but had no answer to City Of Troy late on. Is upwards of 5lb clear of his main rivals on official ratings.

Euphoric

Navan maiden winner on debut last season. Has made the running for better fancied stablemates on latest two outings. Well beaten in the Derby when forcing the pace.

Likely to adopt similar tactics once again in the Irish equivalent. Has plenty to find on bare form, but could run into a place if allowed too much leeway in front.

Grosvenor Square

Group 3 winner at Leopardstown as a juvenile. Well beaten third when sent off favourite for the Chester Vase on his reappearance.

Absent since then but will need to have come on considerably from that run to make his presence felt. Big race entries over a mile and six and two miles later in the campaign at least suggest that he is regarded as a certain stayer.

Keeper’s Heart

Dundalk maiden winner last October. Didn’t get the run of the race when a staying on fourth in the Leopardstown Derby Trail last month.

Slightly disappointing he couldn’t build on that when only third in listed company back at that same venue last time. However, that may just have been a muddling race with only the five runners.

Los Angeles

Lost his unbeaten record when finishing a creditable third at Epsom. Has work to do now in order to find over three lengths with runner-up Ambiente Friendly.

Could possibly be ridden on the pace here in order to make it a proper test of stamina and try expose any chinks in the latter’s armour. Leading contender.

Matsuri

Potential dark horse in the line-up despite needing to step up significantly on anything he has done previously. Impressive eight-length winner of Leicester Novice Stakes latest. However, the Roger Varian-trained colt does have to prove his stamina for this trip, while it should be noted that his big entries later in the season are back over 10 furlongs.

Sunway

Group 1 winner at Saint-Cloud at two. Stayed on into mid-division having not enjoyed the clearest of passages in the French Derby last time. Should appreciate stepping up an additional two furlongs here. Arguably needs to progress further if he is to trouble the Epsom principals but has genuine claims of at least reaching the podium.

The Euphrates

Gowran Park maiden winner in October. Has over eight lengths to find with Ambiente Friendly on Lingfield Derby Trial form. Makes a quick reappearance here having finished fifth in Group 2 company at Royal Ascot. Would be a surprise if the Frankel colt was good enough to get involved at this level.
