SUNDAY afternoon at the RDS saw the presentation of the awards to the leading showing rider, owner and breeder in front of the President’s Box.
The “Diana Gilna Keogh” Perpetual Challenge Trophy (Cup No 155) is presented by the Gilna/Keogh family to the Leading Rider in the Showing classes. This year’s recipient was Co Antrim’s James Smyth who had a wonderful show, winning four classes and posting a third.
Smyth’s wins featured: Middle-Weight Hunters on Polly Coles’ My Diamond Solitaire (Class 8); Heavy-Weight Hunters on Debbie Harrod’s Endeavour R (Class 10); Small Hunters on Ryan Anderson’s Highview Overado (Class 20); Riding Horses (Small) on Ronnie Harrod’ Lulu De Beau (Class 25) and third in Middle-Weight Hunters on Christopher Gibbons’ Austenaco (Class 7).
The Perpetual Challenge Trophy (Cup No 74), ‘The Army Tattoo’ is presented by the Army Tattoo Committee to the exhibitor whose horses obtain the greatest number of first prizes in Classes 1 to 10, the Show Hunters and 52 to 64 inclusive. This year’s recipient was Richard Ames, Piltown, Co Kilkenny, for Belline Special Lady, winner of Class 63, Young Event Horse (4 Year Old) and Kief Rhapsody Of Belline, winner of Class 34, Young Event Horse (5 Year Old).
A piece of crystal is presented to the Leading Breeders in the Show Jumping Championships and the recipient was Greg Broderick’s GBBS International Ltd.
GBBS International Ltd qualified two four-year-olds and four six-year-olds; BP Lady Masterpiece, placed 1st in competition 104C; BP Lady Masterpiece placed second in competition 104A; BP Tiny Dancer placed second in competition 106C; BP Tiny Dancer placed fourth in competition 106A; BP Lucky Clover placed fifth in competition 104C; BP Rocket Man, also competed in the RDS Dublin Horse Show 2023 as did BP GoodFellas.
