FOUND A Fifty (95+) certainly claimed top billing last weekend courtesy of a dominant debut performance which saw him return unchallenged at Boulta. A high cruising speed saw him ease to the front approaching the home bend from where he surged clear to prevail by a widening 15 lengths in the card’s quickest time. This was as impressive as anything that has been produced this season.

The margin of victory was even greater for Exit Eleven (96+) in the winner of one contest at Boulta. The form of his latest effort at Tattersalls had already been boosted and this eight-year-old further advertised that form when taking control of this small field race in the home straight. He should easily add to his tally in two-winner company.

Hot As Pepper (78+) accounted for a vastly more experienced track performer in a race which saw the pair pull a considerable distance clear of their rivals, to suggest it may be form which is worth more than the runner-up may have previously shown.

Still Ciel (82+) picked up well coming to the last where she was low and quick to seal another debut success on the card.

Lingstown

At Lingstown, Vital Island (104) once again proved his effectiveness over the unique course by gamely accounting for this season’s two-time winner Mighty Stowaway in what looked a genuine career best. He continues to outperform his regular form when tackling cross-country courses. Wildfield Ivy (78++) finished in front of a number of subsequent maiden winners at Necarne in the spring, including the twice hurdle-placed Miss McGugen, and that form was always going to be strong enough to take a race of this nature in comfortable fashion. She would certainly look up to winning on the track once handicapped.

Superior speed

Off To A Flyer (91+) produced a turn of foot that few of his rivals could match rounding the home bend, and while the chasing pack closed up the long run-in to such an extent that five lengths covered the front five, his superior speed will see him more than effective over shorter trips. Superstylin (88+) left his rivals trailing from two-out in an auction race that is difficult to assess.

At Moig South, Your Own Story (92++) continued his rapid rise through the ranks in vastly different conditions to what was experienced anywhere else on the weekend. He effortlessly mastered the step up into stronger company and the manner of his success suggests there is still quite a bit more to come.

Inthepocket (92+) travelled best into the straight and won with what seemed a bit in hand, Zaidi (91+) came home to best effect as those in front faltered, while On The Sod maintained his 100% strike rate in the pointing fields despite being short of his best.
