LATE last week, Eventing Ireland published its list of dates for 2024 when the national campaign is due to start on St Patrick’s Day, Sunday, March 17th, with the first of four fixtures during the year at Frankfort Stud.
The Northern Region season opens the following Saturday, March 23rd, with the first of three spring one-day events at the Corbett family’s seaside venue, Tyrella. The circuit will make its seasonal debut in the Munster Region on Sunday, April 14th, for the first of three events at Hillcrest.
From the beginning of May until the end of August, 29 EI events have been scheduled including four at Scarteen. The Grassroots Championships are due to take place, at a venue yet to be named, on Sunday, July 14th, and the Northern Region will introduce a new venue to the calendar, Ash Hollow, near Omagh, on the first Saturday of August. The event at Tattersalls Ireland will once again run against the final day of the Dublin Horse Show on Sunday, August 18th.
As with the Grassroots Championships, no venue has been decided as yet for the EI National Championships, which will be staged over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, September 7th and 8th. The EI season will conclude on Saturday, October 5th, at the new venue of Belline in Co Kilkenny.
On the home international front, the venues and dates for 2024 are: Ballindenisk 1 (April 24th to 28th), Millstreet (May 29th to June 2nd), Kilguilkey House 1 (June 26th to 30th), Kilguilkey House 2 (July 24th to 28th), Lisgarvan (August 21st to 25th) and Ballindenisk 2 (September 25th to 29th).
