BOASTING a bigger field than its long format counterparts, the Green Source CCI2*-L class was won by Texas-born Quidley Kellermann and Da Winti Uno’s Z on their dressage score of 30.2. The seven-year-old gelding by Dallas VDL has had just two national runs under Kellerman, and was previously campaigned by Isabel English. Kellermann, is only 18 and originally from Texas, but has been based in the UK with Kevin McNabb and Isabel English since earlier last year.

“Uno is a newer rider for me, having only picked him up in May,” she said. “The goal is to try to get him to Le Lion d’Angers, but long-term, I want to produce him up the levels.”

As many of the riders did, the Texan commented on the condition of the footing: “The ground was very good out on the cross-country track and it was a really flowing track, combine that with the friendly atmosphere, it really was a great week!”

It was Robbie Kearns and Sorella Blue, who narrowly led the dressage on 30.0 after impressing the ground jury of Hans F Nagel (GER) and Keiko Kabashima (JPN). A clear round inside the time on cross-country day maintained their lead going into the show jumping phase, but luck was not on their side, and a fence down on Sunday meant Kearns dropped to fifth place on the final leaderboard.

Cathal Daniels and Shannondale Micah finished on their dressage score to take second place in the class. The seven-year-old gelding has recently stepped up to this level after a third place finish in the CCI1*-Intro class at Millstreet International earlier in the season. John Tilley and Grand Espoir took third place after a double clear in the jumping phases, after two retirements on the cross-country in their last two runs, it looks like the combination are back on track.
