MEATH’s Carla Williamson currently occupies the top three spots in the EI110 (P) league, leading with Jane Hancock’s 16-year-old Tinka’s Boy gelding Ardeo Fireman on whom she won at Tyrella (3) on Saturday, April 22nd.

There were just four starters at the Co Down seaside venue and only one the following day at Hillcrest where David Keatley claimed the honours with his mother Grace’s Connemara mare Crosskeys Bella. On board that seven-year-old Crosskeys Rebel dun at Frankfort Stud, Keatley found himself runner-up to the dual The Irish Field junior event rider of the year, Ben Connors, and his parents’ Connemara gelding Cornafest Fred, a 10-year-old bay by Gwennic de Goariva.

There were plenty of runners at EI100 (P) level. Making their seasonal debuts at Tyrella (3), Erin Mathieson and her mother Hilary’s Connemara gelding Longwood Dawn, a 10-year-old grey by I Love You Melody, saw off 14 rival combinations on their way to victory.

There were 19 starters in the Munster Region EI100 (P) class at Hillcrest where there was a first Eventing Ireland success for Rory Connaughton with Jaymee Savill’s Independent Johnny, a 12-year-old Connemara gelding by Fernville Danny.

Seventeen combinations started and finished at Frankfort Stud where Laragh Byrne completed on her winning dressage score with Susanna Francke’s 15-year-old gelding, Taylors Dicey Riley.

Although they didn’t compete on the national scene during the period under review, Gilby Monaghan and the Connemara gelding Longwood Laura still lead the Equipe Saddles Ireland league on 20 points.

There were just five starters, and five finishers, in the EI90 (P) classes at both Tyrella and Frankfort Stud.

The first was won by Molly Goodwin who was making her third appearance under EI rules with her mother Aileen’s Connemara gelding Grange Flint Surf, a seven-year-old by Finian Sparrow. Also competing with EI for the third time, Alice Curley claimed the honours at Frankfort Stud with her mother Jenny’s piebald mare L.A. Dream Machine.

Goodwin and Grange Flint Surf are lying joint first in the Amerigo and Equipe Saddles league with Eve Lindsay and Kilcurry Gem.

There were nine starters, eight finishers, in the EI90 (P) class at Hillcrest where, on her seasonal debut, Sophie Swain completed on her winning dressage score with her mother Catherine’s 12-year-old Gwennic de Goariva mare Here Comes Trouble.
