Fairyhouse, February 26th

Scoir Mear

(T. Mullins)

The 12-year-old won the Leinster National this time last year and suggested that he could be nearing peak form once more with a very creditable fifth to Carrig Sam in a well-contested handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse last Saturday. It will be interesting to see what direction he takes over the coming weeks.

Naas, February 27th

Perceval Legallois

(G.P. Cromwell)

A debut winner of a four-year-old bumper last season, he had struggled somewhat on his first two runs over hurdles but he took a step forward to finish third to Highland Charge and Micro Manage on Sunday. A first jumping success may not be long in coming his way.

Smooth Scotch

(S.R.B. Crawford)

His debut eighth to Meet And Greet at this track last month wasn’t devoid of promise and he progressed from that to be beaten by just under 11 lengths into third in a maiden hurdle won by the promising Bring On The Night. It won’t be much longer before he is notching up his first victory.

Naas, February 27th

Georgette Fun

(H. de Bromhead)

This mare had been off the track for two years when contesting the handicap hurdle won by Palace Rock last Sunday and she acquitted herself well to finish fifth. She won over hurdles on her third and final French start over two years ago, and this effort would suggest she will be able to make up for lost time.

Clonmel, March 3rd

Maxxum

(E.M. O’Sullivan)

He was having the third run of his career when finishing fourth to Geni De La Cour in a maiden hurdle on Thursday. Admittedly he was beaten a considerable distance, but he wasn’t disgraced and has now shown ability in each of his three starts. He can be placed to advantage in the coming months.
