PIERRE-CHARLES Boudot is set to finish second in the French jockeys’ championship, a title he won in both 2015 and 2016, for a third straight year. Yet October 2019 has still provided him with the undoubted highlight of his career, mainly thanks to his superb Arc victory on Waldgeist, but also because of the wonderful four-timer he achieved 24 hours earlier, which won the owners €480,000 in prize money in the process.

He was quick to get off the mark in Saturday’s opening Group 2 Prix Dollar, producing a copybook ride on Skaletti to come from last down the inside rail and, after switching out at the perfect moment, pounce on the front-running Mountain Angel in the last 50 yards.
