LANWADES Stud stallion Sea The Moon achieved a remarkable feat last Sunday when he was responsible for the first three home in the Preis der Diana (German Oaks) at Dusseldorf.

This comes just a month after the same sire’s son Fantastic Moon won the German Derby.

The sire’s clean sweep in the Oaks was led by Muskoka, an €80,000 purchase at the BBAG September Yearling Sale.

Muskoka is trained in Germany by Henk Grewe, who won the 2021 German Derby with Sisfahan and has also achieved Group 1 success with Donjah in recent times.

Winning rider Lukas Delozier is best known as one-time rider of Torquator Tasso. They combined to win a Group 1 race together in 2020 but Delozier was subsequently replaced before that horse won the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in 2021.

Last Sunday, Muskoka prevailed by a neck from Kassada, the pair over two lengths clear of Sea The Lady. Amazingly, they were the only three runners by Sea The Moon in the 13-runner field.

After the race, run on soft ground, Grewe told media that connections are considering a race on Arc weekend before travelling to the Breeders’ Cup.

Earlier in the day, Grewe and Delozier teamed up to win a Group 3 over a mile with See Hector, a four-year-old colt by the Australian stallion Counterattack, a son of Redoute’s Choice.
