GORESBRIDGE Horse Sales have announced the launch of a new point-to-point sale on Thursday, November 28th.

It follows the successful inaugural edition of a similar sale in April, driven by the wish of some point-to-point handlers not to travel to the UK in order to sell. April’s trade was topped by Justatan, a winner of both his starts for Mick Goff, who was knocked down to Emmet Mullins for €78,000.

British buyers were also active, including Tom Malone, Marcus Collie, Rebecca Menzies and Dan Astbury. Graduates have already made their mark for new connections, with John McConnell’s €27,000 buy Cloonainra drawing nine lengths clear on her hurdle bow, having won her point-to-point for David O’Brien.

Upon announcing next month’s sale, Goresbridge Sales’ Ed Donohoe said: “We were hugely encouraged by the success of our first sale in April. The aim is to have a number of entrants that will have run through October until the time of sale. This will be the only outlet in Ireland for them, and will cater for any horses that do not get into the marquee sales as well as those vendors who choose not to travel to the UK.”
