THE Chris Giles Dispersal headlines the Goffs UK Summer Sale, which takes place at the Doncaster venue on Monday July 22nd.

Eleven of the 206 horses catalogued for what was formerly known as the August Sale previously carried the pink and purple silks of Chris Giles, best known for racing Silviniaco Conti and Zarkandar.

Giles’ most recent notable success came in the valuable Goffs UK Spring Sale Bumper at Newbury in March and the impressive winner Regent’s Stroll will be offered by Mill House Stud as Lot 67. Bought at the venue’s Spring Store Sale for £170,000, the Paul Nicholls-trained son of Walk In The Park is unbeaten from two starts.

Giles’ Grade 1 winner Stay Away Fay will also go under the hammer, with the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle victor catalogued as Lot 72. A Grade 2 winner over fences in December, the son of Shantou was bought by Nicholls and Tom Malone for £305,000 after winning his sole start for Matthew Flynn O’Connor.

Stablemate Rubaud (Lot 65) also boasts an impressive CV, with three Grade 2 wins, a listed win and Grade 1 second against Constitution Hill in the Christmas Hurdle.

The catalogue benefits from three French-trained entries owned by Caolan Woods, including Grade 1 winner July Flower. The Mickael Seror-trained mare’s top-flight success came on the level, but she has placed in two Grade 1 hurdles as recently as May.

Strong Irish presence in HIT section

Among the point-to-point graduates on offer is Denis Murphy’s debut winner Berkenshtaaap (Lot 79), who won a four-year-old maiden at Inchydoney by five lengths at the end of May. Francesca Poste’s debut four-year-old winner Scarlet Jet is catalogued as Lot 102, with the Elusive Pimpernel gelding’s page featuring top chaser Storm Alert.

A 12-strong consignment from Donnchadh Doyle’s Monbeg Stables includes another four-year-old in Klub De Reve, a grandson of Beat Hollow who won his second start at Stradbally.

The Sam Curling-trained four-year-old Lord Maher ran twice between the flags before making a winning rules debut in a maiden hurdle at Roscommon, while Handlethekettle is another promising type, having finished second in a maiden hurdle at Listowel on his first start under rules for Paul Cashman.

Bective Stud consign five lots, the most accomplished of which is the twice Graded-placed The Bosses Oscar (Lot 117), while other Irish vendors of horses-in-training include Andrew McNamara, Andrew Latta, Emmett Mullins, Johnny Hurley, Stuart Crawford and Willie Mullins.

Well-related three-year-olds

The store section features proven sires such as Affinisea, Flemensfirth, Getaway, Masked Marvel, No Risk At All, et cetera. Both offerings by Getaway boast smart pedigrees, with Lot 203 being a half-brother to Grade 1 winner Athena Du Berlais, while Lanton House’s Getaway filly is out of a multiple listed-placed mare (Lot 198).

Mill House Stud’s consignment includes a Soldier Of Fortune half-brother to a Grade 3 performer, out of a listed-winning King’s Theatre mare (Lot 205), while Manor Farm’s offering features a Crystal Ocean filly out of a multiple listed-placed Martaline mare (Lot 238).

From Goldford Stud hails a Gentlewave half-sister to Grade 3 Greatwood Hurdle winner Harambe (Lot 210), who also finished third in a Grade 2 bumper, while the other Gentlewave filly is out of a blacktype hurdler.
