OLD Gold Racing, the leading syndicate who have experienced Grade 1 success in Britain, is breaking new ground as it launches its first Irish-trained horse in Fedneys Park, a point-to-point-winning five-year-old mare now in the care of Henry de Bromhead.

The Walk In The Park mare will be readied to make her racecourse debut later this year, after having won her point-to-point at Carrigarostig by a comfortable six lengths earlier this year, when trained by Mick Goff.

Ed Seyfried, CEO of Old Gold Racing, said: “Fedneys Park looks like a lovely prospect for National Hunt racing, and she really couldn’t be in better hands. Henry de Bromhead’s track record as a Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion Hurdle and Grand National winning-trainer more than precedes him, and he showed it again with two further big Festival winners last month.

Next graded winner?

“Ireland is a nation indelibly linked to the horse, and so we’re delighted to be giving Old Gold Racing members the chance to be involved in a horse trained on the other side of the Irish Sea. We’ve obviously been lucky enough to have a Grade 1-winning mare for our members before in Apple Away, and who knows, Fedneys Park may be the next one.”

Henry de Bromhead said: “It’s fantastic to be training Fedneys Park for Old Gold Racing and its amazing members. I loved the way she won her point-to-point in January, and I’m convinced we’re going to have a lot of fun with her. She looks well bought at 82,000gns too, so she’s a really exciting mare to follow.

“Syndicates are such a critical part of the ownership make up and it’s brilliant that Old Gold Racing are getting involved on this side of the Irish Sea. Hopefully, she can fly the flag for the team in a big way once she hits the track later this year.”
