SELECTIONS for the Irish farrier team took place in January of this year and 10 of Ireland’s top senior and apprentice farriers are set to represent Ireland both nationally and internationally throughout 2017.

The teams’ first competition will be the Home International Farriery Competition to be held at the Royal Welsh Showground in March. Previous Irish farrier teams have been very successful competing internationally and there is no doubt that the current team will showcase the talents that Irish farriers are renowned for.

Team manager, Alwyn McKeown AWCF, told The Irish Field that: “The team has been training every weekend we are making great progress.

“We have some new faces on the team this year and the focus at the Home Internationals will be for the five apprentice farriers to learn as much as possible from their senior team members and for everyone to enjoy the experience”.
