Curragh, May 21st

Wexford Native

(J.S. Bolger)

On just the third outing of his career this talented colt ran a fine race to be beaten three lengths into fourth in the Irish 2000 Guineas.

In a race where those that raced prominently struggled in the closing stages this son of Teofilo only gave best approaching the last furlong.

He could do even better when he moves up in trip which will make him a very interesting contender for next month’s Irish Derby.

With Love

(K.T. Coleman)

This daughter of Territories was supported at big prices for her debut in a smart looking two-year-old fillies’ maiden on Sunday and she produced a display full of promise to finish a two and a quarter lengths fourth to Zarinsk.

With a smoother passage through the race she would have been even closer and she looks a nice prospect for a yard doing well with a relatively small team.

Sceolan

(W. McCreery)

She struggled to make an impact in three runs last year but her return in a competitive fillies sprint handicap was most encouraging and saw her finish a length and a half off the winner, Pirate Jenny, in fourth.

On this evidence she won’t be long in making her mark.

Eyaziya

(D.K. Weld)

She followed a creditable debut run behind Above The Curve with a sixth to Kiss Goodnight in a 10-furlong fillies’ maiden on Sunday where she looked to be going best of all turning for home before fading over the last furlong to be beaten just over five lengths.

She ran better than her final position would suggest and can win a maiden before long.

Gowran, May 24th

Bantry

(J.J. Murphy)

It was once again very hard to come from off the pace at Gowran on Tuesday which makes the effort of this gelding all the more meritorious.

He came from well back to be beaten just a neck into second by Bells On Her Toes in a three-year-old seven-furlong handicap.

This was his best effort to date from five outings and this run would suggest a first victory should soon be coming his way.
