AHEAD of next Monday’s big match Jim Bolger and Davy Russell have announced their teams for Hurling for Cancer Research which takes place in Netwatch Cullen Park in Carlow this Monday, August 12th. Throw-in is at 7pm.

Stars from the world of racing, GAA and top sports personalities will be lacing-up their boots for the annual hurling extravaganza between the two teams with Wexford and Kilkenny legends Liam Griffin and Brian Cody acting as Bainisteoirí.

An all-star list of John Kiely, Mark Landers, Jimmy Barry Murphy, Paul Townend, Rachael Blackmore, Bernard Dunne, Cora Staunton, Ursula Jacob, Peter Canavan, Paul Nolan, Michael Darragh MacAuley, Michael Duignan and Joanne O’Riordan are among those stepping up to act as selectors, commentators, side-line officials, umpires and maoir uisce.

GAA stars Ryan Taylor, Peter Duggan, Ian Galvin and David Fitzgerald from All-Ireland-winning Clare team along with Paudie Clifford, Tom Morrisey, T.J. Reid, Eoin Cody, Lee Chin, Con O’Callaghan, Michael Fitzsimons, Eoin and Robert Downey and many more are waiting for the call to the pitch!

For the first time, Hurling for Cancer Research will be broadcast on TG4 to maximise coverage of this unique hurling match and help boost donations to the Irish Cancer Society’s vital research projects.

To date, Hurling for Cancer Research has raised an incredible €1.5m for cancer research.

Hurling for Cancer Research founder, Jim Bolger, said: “We have an unbelievable line-up of players not to mention our celebrity umpires, commentators, and sideline officials. It is a brilliant evening out for all the family and I think those in attendance are guaranteed a great evening.

Gates open at 5pm with pre-match entertainment and refreshments before throw-in at 7pm.
