IRISH riders had a strong presence at Sentower Park last week with a host of good results, none more so than Wexford’s Bertram Allen who scored four three-star victories.

On Thursday, Bertram Allen clinched victory in the three-star 1.40m two-phase when he partnered the nine-year-old gelding Newmarket Influence (Newmarket Jewel x Equador), bred by Billy Daly, to a double clear in 28.64. It was the pair’s first show together; he was produced in the past by Poland’s Bartosz Goszczynski.

Not content with the win, he also took fourth place with Caprisco, when he delivered another double clear in 29.57. Also in the ribbons was Trevor Breen as he took fourth place with Jicarla T, when they answered all the questions in a time of 35.40.

Allen claimed another victory, this time in the CSI3* 1.35m. Riding Emmylou, he delivered a clear in 64.36. Later that day, Allen took the win in the 1.40m, again with Newmarket Influence, when he was double clear in 28.26.

Further down the line in fourth place was Trevor Breen and Jicarla T, who also kept the poles in place, albeit in a slower time of 29.81. Breen was back in the ribbons on Sunday, claiming the runner-up place with Germaine W in the two-phase 1.45m, when clear in 30.99.

Allen took his final win of the week in Saturday’s 1.40m with Newmarket Influence. The pair kept all the poles in place in the two-phase special in a time of 26.67. Bertram was joined by his brother Harry in the line-up as he took fifth place with Calculatus when clear in 29.18.

Jeremy Sweetnam and Fidelio Ask shared fifth place with Theresa Kamps (Candy Z) and Simone Prouve (Joshua) in the six bar competition on Saturday when they had four faults in the last round.
