DUNBOYNE-based Deirdre Reilly won the two-star Grand Prix in Nouans-les-Fontaines, France last Sunday.

Riding her own 12-year-old stallion Kafka vd Heffinck, Reilly was one of six clears in the first round from 26 starters and produced another clear against the clock in 34.55 seconds to scoop the top prize of €6,375. The pair beat Frenchman Richard Breul and Bookmaker Compostelle into second place, they were clear in 34.63, ahead of France’s Jerome Hurel who produced the only other clear in 34.86 with Elios du Marais.

By Calvaro Z out of a Diamant de Semilly mare, Kafka vd Heffinck stands at Reilly’s Derryglen Stud in Dunboyne, Co Meath. Previously ridden by Portugal’s Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida, he won the five-star Grand Prix of Athens in 2019 and jumped clear at the Nations Cup final in Barcelona before joining Reilly’s team.
