GALWAY’s Jessica Burke brought her good form from the UAE back to Europe and won a three-star class in Arezzo, Italy last Sunday.

Riding Louisa Church’s 10-year-old mare Inpulss, she won the 1.45m jump-off class which had 78 starters. Just 10 of the 78 made it through to the competitive jump-off, where Burke was the fastest of five clears in 37.80 seconds to win €6,550.

She beat Italy’s Giacomo Casadei into second place with Evitason van’t Paradijs (0/0 38.34), while Co Clare junior rider Coen William finished in third place with Conthanja PS (0/0 39.10).

Also competing at the venue was Ella Clancy who finished runner-up in Sunday’s 1.35m Table A aboard the nine-year-old Irish Sport Horse Corraghoe Steel (Mermus R x Cruising), bred by Patrick Smith. Eoin Brennan was fourth in the class with Limestone Briarhill Lui (Kings Cornet x Luidam), which was won by Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano with Jaja. Earlier in the week, Clancy and Corraghoe Steel won two 1.30m classes at the venue.

Malahide-based Jenny Rankin finished third in Sunday’s three-star 1.50m Grand Prix. She rode the 10-year-old gelding Imar, owned by Barry O’Connor and Elizabeth Phillips to one of six clears against the clock in a time of 43.69 seconds, collecting just under €8,000. Germany’s Jörne Sprehe won aboard Hot Easy in 38.80 seconds, ahead of Dutch rider Ger Jan Bruggink with Vigalio Sho Z (0/0 39.45).
