SLIGO’s Darragh Kerins put in an impressive performance aboard the Irish Sport Horse Intuitive to claim victory in the $50,000 Kentucky Spring Classic Grand Prix last weekend.

Kerins opted for a forward approach in the first round, posting the second fastest time of the six that made it through to the second round. Against the clock, he posted another clear in 45.09 second which proved good enough to take the win and €15,000 top prize ahead of Michael Desiderio and Le Muguet (0/0 45.58). Spain’s Francisco Goyoaga Mollet and Carlson 135 rounded out the leaderboard after posting the fastest four fault jump off ride amongst the field of competitors.

The 11-year-old gelding Intuitive is by Beach Ball out of the Andiamo Z-sired Sandiamo and was bred by Edgar Hogg and was produced in Ireland by his son, James, before being sold to the USA.

In the $25,000 Kentucky Summer Classic, Christina Kelly and Dynamis KC finished in ninth place when they had one down in a time of 45.53.
