A FAMILIAR venue with the Irish contingent, Peelbergen once again proved to be happy hunting ground last weekend with Denis Lynch, Eoin McMahon, Michael G Duffy and Paraic Kenny delivering impressive results.

On Thursday, Eoin McMahon took third place in the CSIYH1* two-phase special seven-year-old 1.30m when he answered all the questions with Zimes Square in a time of 29.27. On Friday the combination finished in eighth place in this young horse division.

Paraic Kenny also featured in the young horse division, taking the runner-up place in the six-year-olds with Benny’s Lass, when he crossed the line clear in 65.55. Bred by Thomas Hutchinson, Benny’s Lass is by Benny’s Legacy out of the Nad Elshiba xx mare Patricks Polly.

The combination returned the next day to take third place in the young horse class when clear in a time of 29.61.

In Friday’s two-star 1.35m Table A, Denis Lynch took the win when he put in a foot-perfect performance with Lillebebegaards Amaflair in a time of 67.82, over a second faster than his closest rival, Dutchman Tobias Luikens with Dezember 15 (0/ 68.67).

Lynch then went on to take third place in the two-star 1.45m with the stallion Dark Chocolate 48, when he was one of the nine clears in a time of 71.02 seconds.

The Tipperary rider finished just outside the top six on Saturday in the two-star 1.40m Grand Prix. Riding Lillebebegaards Amaflair, they didn’t put a foot wrong but crossed the line in 35.28 for seventh place.

Michael G. Duffy was also in action at the venue, taking fourth place in Friday’s one-star 1.30m, when he came home clear in 66.34 aboard Like About You. Saturday saw Duffy return to the line-up, this time taking the runner-up spot in the two-star 1.45. Riding Neugschwents Concordia, he kept all the poles in their cups in a time of 39.70. Duffy was fractions off the winner’s time, France’s Laura Monier and Attaque, who clocked 38.70.

Also making their presence felt on Saturday was Eoin Mc McMahon and Paraic Kenny. McMahon was best placed of the Irish contingent in the CSI1* 1.35m, slotting into fourth place when he partnered Comme Le Pere to a clear in 50.43. Kenny was fastest of the four-faulters with Nikko 8 in a time of 48.63.
