Eoin McMahon and Shane Dwan placed

CO CLARE’s Eoin McMahon picked up a number of placings at the two-star show in Riesenbeck, where he is based at Ludger Beerbaum’s yard. He was runner-up in Saturday’s 1.30m Table A with the seven-year-old mare Kir Royal 104 when clear in 64.56 seconds, behind Swiss winner Andreas Erni. The pair were then third in the following day’s 1.35m, which saw Tipperary’s Shane Dwan finish fifth with Bipeggio. Dwan finished third in Thursday’s 1.40m Table A with Corny 8, and won two seven-year-old classes with Havalla, a Stakkato Gold mare owned by Gestüt Sprehe GmbH.

The time in Sunday’s two-star Grand Prix was influential and it keep McMahon out of the jump-off with his European Championship mount Chacon 2, to finish ninth. Eight riders in total picked up a single time fault in the first round. Victory went to USA’s Lucas Porter with Hope Street.

Mark McAuley runner-up

LOUTH show jumper Mark McAuley was in action in Valence, France, last weekend where he was runner-up in Saturday’s two-star 1.35m aboard the eight-year-old mare Danslevent de Carles, owned by Scea La Tuiliere.

Holly Smith’s Denver sold to France

HOLLY Smith’s Tokyo Olympic Games mount Denver has been sold to French rider Sadri Fegaier.

The 13-year-old Dutch-bred gelding by Albfuehren’s Memphis only began show jumping two years ago; before that he was produced up to the four-star level in eventing by Dutch rider Anton Woertmann.

Since taking over the reins, the pair have achieved huge success, including riding for Britain on Nations Cup teams and competing at the Tokyo Olympics. They pair were second in the five-star Grand Prix in Lyon at the end of October and fourth in the World Cup on the same weekend.

Sadri Fegaier owns the Hubside jumping venues in Saint Tropez and Valence and competes other top showjumpers including Chianti’s Champion, previously ridden by Ireland’s Peter Moloney, and Darragh Kenny’s former mount Important De Muze.
