Rohrssens impress

in France

IRISH carriage driving athletes Kris Rohrssen and Annika Rohrssen both recorded excellent runner-up finishes last weekend at Selestat in France.

Kris had his second place finish in the Junior Pony single with Checkmate, finishing less than two points behind German winner Laura Husges.

Annika was second in the Pony Pairs with with Rosens Rabeo and Rosens Ramiro, where victory also went to a German rider, Birgit Kohlweiss.

Lynch placed in Hagan Grand Prix

TIPPERARY’S Denis Lynch and GC Chopin’s Bushi finished in eighth place in last Sunday’s four-star Grand Prix at Hagen in Germany. The pair finished with four faults in each round to earn €2,855. The winner’s prize of almost €24,000 went to Germany’s Janne F Meyer-Zimmermann and Messi Van’t Ruytershof.

David Simpson was also in action at the venue and he finished third Wednesday’s four-star 1.40m with his top mount Foudre D when clear in 69.16 seconds. Victory went to Belgium’s Andres Vereecke with D’Artagnan RR (0/ 65.73).

Klatzko placed in Kronenberg

IRISH dressage rider Sorrell Klatzko and the nine-year-old gelding Turbo finished eighth in the Grand Prix Special at Kronenberg CDI3* in The Netherlands with a score of 68.36%. Dutch rider Marieke van der Putten won with Torveslettens Titanium Rs2 on a score of 73.57%.

At the same fixture, Carolyn Mellor and Gouverneur M finished seventh in the Grand Prix Freestyle to Music with a score of 66.99%. Victory on that occasion went to The Netherlands’ Emmelie Scholtens with Indian Rock (76.64%).

Irish Dressage athletes had some impressive results on the international stage lthe previous weekend. Anna Merveldt and Esporim finished fourth in the CDI4* Grand Prix at Gössendorf in Austria and took fifth place in the Grand Prix Freestyle To Music.
