THE second leg of the Jumpinaction.net and Jod -Z Secondary Schools jumping league got under way on a dry, chilly Sunday morning on October 13th at Killossery Lodge Stud.
The novice individual class ran first and, for a second week in a row, the number one place went to Chloe Dunne and Cuffstown Princess from Mount Sackville, with a winning time of 40.91. This winning round was closely followed by Ciara Wall and Jasper Himself representing Sacred Heart Secondary School taking second place in a time of 43.37, with an exceptionally close third place going to Enfield Community College representative Aine Mullen in a time of 43.38, while fourth position went to Bobby Branagan and Barna Belle from Templeogue College in 46.98.
Claudia Rose Ormiston rode Amber into fifth for Eureka Secondary School in 53.57 and Clodagh Gillic with Zebo finished in sixth place (55.26), completing the placings for this exciting second day.
The Jumpinaction.net and Jod-Z secondary school team competition had nine teams battling it out for the top spot. Four schools made it through to the jump off, with a team from St Mac Dara’s and St Wolstan’s taking first prize for the second time in this competition. The second spot went to Mount Sackville, closely followed by Drogheda Grammar School, who finished in third. Maynooth Education Campus secured fourth position, followed by Ashbourne Community School who took fifth place and Eureka Secondary School Blue snatched the sixth place spot to finish a thrilling second league day.
In the Jumpinaction.net and Jod-Z 90/95cm Open Individual Show Jumping class, it was Frenchpark Florence ridden by Charlotte Harten, who flew over the line to win in a time of 41.02. Riding close on her heels in a time of 41.09 was Lily Rogan Mills securing second place. The third place slot this week went to Poppy O’Dwyer on Mac from Dunshaughlin Community College in a time of 43.66.
Alice Manoliu was in the line up with Finding Finn taking fourth position in a time of 44.01, while Sadhbh O’Toole and Toby from Maynooth Education Campus slotted into fifth. The last place went to Ruby Morris and Kilmorgan Star representing Eureka.
Hopeful
The Jod-Z Primary Interschools novice individuals had 10 hopefuls, who competed in the afternoon, with five successful double clears. Ava Rogers and Wispa, representing Naul National School took the first clear of the Primary Novice Competition. Chloe Mollaghan from Rathbeggan National School secured the second clear round of the afternoon on Twiglet. The third clear went to Winni Gunn and Candy from St Peter’s National School. Lucky ridden by Romaine White representing Headfort School were the fourth clear, followed by Niamh Maguire and her pony Sandy Joy from Kildalkey NS.
The Jod-Z Primary Interschools open individual had a number of starters all competing for the top positions. Moving up the placings this week to first place was Cara O’Connor riding In It To Win It, with Maisie Connolly and Abbeylands Supreme securing the second place position. The third spot was awarded to Nancy Caffrey and her pony Freddie from St Andrew’s Curragha. Lily Dunne had a very successful day taking fourth and sixth places with Parcglass Golden Venture and Killeany Limited Edition, with Kate Sharkey and Crimson and Clover representing Scoil Mhuire Moynalty taking fifth place on the day.
The Jod-Z Primary team competition had two out of the four teams through to the jump off in Sunday’s competition. The winning team, made up from representatives from Kilcoon NS, were first to jump and secured the top spot. They were closely followed by a competitive team from Moynalty/Carlanstown/Lismullen, who finished in second position. St Andrew’s, St Mary’s and St Patrick’s team secured the third place in the competition, followed in fourth by riders from Headfort.
