THE fifth leg of the Jumpinaction.net and Jod-Z Secondary Schools jumping league got under way on December 8th at Killossery Lodge Stud.

The novice individual was won for an amazing fifth week by the unbeatable Chloe Dunne and Cuffstown Princess from Mount Sackville, with a winning time of 33.57. This winning round was followed by Ruby Lynch and Our Molly, representing Maynooth Education Campus, who climbed up the placings into the second slot in a time of 34.73.

They were closely followed by Alice Manoliu and Money Quid Queen, who took take third place in a time of 35.70. Remaining in the top six riders, was Aine Mullan and Sir Archiebold riding for Enfield Community College School in a time of 38.69 to finish fourth. Fiadh O’Dea and Soldier Ard Rí jumped into the placings to secure fifth place for Maynooth Education Campus in 40.79, with Niamh Smith and Barney, also new to the top six, finishing in sixth with a time of 49.99.

The Jumpinaction.net and Jod-Z secondary school team class had eight teams competing for the winning spot. Three schools made it through to the jump-off, with a successful team from Maynooth Education Campus moving from fifth to first place this week.

The second spot went to Loreto Balbriggan, back in the placings with a team of just three riders. The third place position this week went to Eureka Secondary School Blue and St Mac Dara’s and St Wolstan’s remained in the top six to finish fourth. Drogheda Grammar School secured fifth this week, followed by a team from Mount Sackville, who took the sixth place spot to finish an exciting fifth day of the league.

Open individual

In the Jumpinaction.net and Jod-Z 90/95cm Open Individual show jumping class, it was Toby, ridden by Sadhbh O’Toole, who moved up to the top spot in a winning time of 40.59.

Riding close on her heels and staying in second position for another week was Ruby Morris and Kilmorgan Star in a time of 41.30. The third place slot this week went to Charlotte Harten on Frenchpark Florence from Drogheda Grammar School in a time of 41.62. Lily Rogan Mills moved up a slot to take fourth position on Scarlett in a time of 42.53, while Maisie McCarten and Clooncan Clover from Eureka slotted into fifth in a time of 44.57. Lastly, Alice Manoliu and Money Quid Queen representing St Wolstan’s, remained in the top positions to secure sixth in a time of 42.0.

The Jod-Z Primary Interschools’ Novice Individuals had eight competitive riders, who jumped in the afternoon, with five successful double clears. Mary Dillon and The Right Choice, jumping for Headfort, took the first double clear of the Primary Novice Competition.

Chloe Mollaghan, representing Rathbeggan NS, secured another clear round with Twiglet. The third double clear went to newcomer Johnny Fowler on Splash from Coole NS. Winni Gunn and Candy secured another clear this week, which was followed by Rhys and Pierce from St Mary’s Boys’ School, who took the fifth double clear of the competition.

The Jod-Z Primary Interschools’ Open Individual had a number of starters, all competing for the top positions. Taking an extremely impressive first and second place for a second time on the day, was Robyn Lynch, on her ponies Mojo and Good Luck Yankee. Rosita Dunne rode into the top six securing third with Fontmell Jack Sparrow. Rose Reynolds and her pony Cotterstown Dun from Lismullen NS were also successful, securing fourth place, with Jane Reynolds jumping into fifth. The last slot on the day went to Rosie Fowler and Lahinch Gizmo, representing Headfort.

Battling

The Jod-Z Primary team competition had three teams battling it out on the day. The winning team made up from representatives from Lismullen/Moynalty/Scoile Mhuire Carlanstown were first to jump and secured the top spot. Second place this week went to a competitive team from Kilcloon NS, who were followed by Headfort, who fought hard to secure third place again.
