ADVERTISE (GB)

9yo by Showcasing ex Furbelow (Pivotal)

Knockmullen House Stud €5,000

Showcasing’s multiple Group 1 winner Advertise is the first flat stallion to stand at Gordon Doyle’s Co Wexford farm. His fee marks a significant drop from the £25,000 he commanded in his first three seasons at the National Stud, before moving to Martyn Meade’s Manton Park Stud.

His second crop of juveniles in 2024 included Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes victor Cool Hoof Luke and the twice Group 2-placed Billboard Star. Group 3 Musidora Stakes heroine Secret Satire was another standout, along with Al Shabab Storm, the winner of a Group 3 sprint in Germany and a listed race at Chester. Andrew Balding and Clive Cox were among those who bought Advertise’s yearlings in 2024, with prices reaching €75,000.

AESOP’S FABLES (IRE)

5yo by No Nay Never ex How’s She Cuttin’ (Shinko Forest)

Starfield Stud €6,500

Micheal Orlandi’s new recruit bids to continue the success of the Scat Daddy line, led by his own sire No Nay Never, Justify, Sioux Nation and the leading freshman sire of 2024, Sergei Prokofiev.

The half-brother to Group 1 sprinter Washington DC made it two from two when landing the Group 2 Futurity Stakes at the Curragh and progressed as a three-year-old, finishing third to Highfield Princess in the Prix de l’Abbaye, before flying home for third in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.

Those performances earned him an official rating of 112, after which he landed the Listed Sole Power Sprint at Naas.

ARREST (IRE)

5yo by Frankel ex Nisriyna (Intikhab)

Boardsmill Stud Fee TBA

The Flood family’s latest recruit came from Juddmonte, the source of their Grade 1 sire Court Cave. A €440,000 foal buy, the Frankel half-brother to Group 3 winner Dinozzo was sent to John and Thady Gosden, for whom he landed a Sandown maiden previously won by the likes of Westover and Too Darn Hot.

He rounded off his juvenile campaign with a narrow defeat in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud and returned the following season to bolt up by six and a half lengths in the Group 3 Chester Vase. He later defied a 3lb penalty in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes, before claiming runners-up honours in the St Leger.

Arrest placed in three group races as a four-year-old, most notably finishing second to subsequent Group 1 winner Giavelloto in the Group 2 Princess Of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket.

AUGUSTE RODIN (IRE)

5yo by Deep Impact ex Rhododendron (Galileo)

Coolmore Stud €30,000

Auguste Rodin boasts a flawless pedigree, as a son of Deep Impact out of Galileo’s triple Group 1 winner Rhododendron, herself a daughter of multiple Group 1 winner in Halfway To Heaven.

Aidan O’Brien’s charge recorded six wins at the highest level, gained over a mile, ten furlongs, and a mile and a half. The first came in impressive fashion in the Futurity Trophy, the next in the Epsom Derby, as King Of Steel chased him home, over four lengths clear of White Birch.

He doubled up in the Irish Derby, before adding the Irish Champion Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Turf to his haul. His final top-flight victory came in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes, though he went close again when beaten a neck in the Irish Champion Stakes.

AUTHORIZED (IRE)

21yo by Montjeu ex Funsie (Saumarez)

Capital Stud Private

Authorized travelled from Turkey to Tipperary ahead of the 2024 season, but was unavailable to view during last year’s Stallion Trail. The top-class son of Montjeu was rewarded with 138 mares last spring, breeders celebrating their choice when I Am Maximus captured the Aintree Grand National.

He added to Authorized’s two previous wins in the race courtesy of Tiger Roll, while Readin Tommy Wrong added to his sire’s tally of Grade 1-winning hurdlers in January. Eight-time Grade 1 winner Nichols Canyon was an earlier flagbearer, while Echos In Rain was best of the mares.

Authorized began his stallion career on the flat and his Group 1 winners include Ambivalent, Hartnell, Seal Of Approval and Santiago.

BIG EVS (IRE)

4yo by Blue Point ex Hana Lina (Oasis Dream)

Tally Ho Stud €17,500

Michael Appleby’s stable star is one of three Group 1 winners from the first crop of champion first season sire Blue Point, himself a son of Shamardal. He proved his 20/1 win in the Windsor Castle was no fluke when following up in the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes, a race previously won by the likes of Havana Grey and Tally Ho studmate Cotai Glory.

He was not for catching in the Flying Childers Stakes, before proving best in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. A listed winner on his three-year-old return, he was headed close home in the King Charles II Stakes, finishing third, but gained revenge on Asfoora in the Group 2 King George Qatar Stakes at Goodwood.

BUCANERO FUERTE (GB)

4yo by Wootton Bassett ex Frida La Blonde (Elusive City)

Tally Ho Stud €12,500

Bucanero Fuerte is one of two Group 1 winners by Wootton Bassett to be retired by AMO Racing to Tally Ho Stud for the 2025 season, but his profile is significantly different from King Of Steel.

He never finished out of the first three as a juvenile, earning him a rating only inferior to City Of Troy. He built on his Coventry Stakes third to land the Group 2 Railway Stakes, before bolting up by four lengths in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes.

A game performance in a Group 3 on his three-year-old debut registered a fourth career victory. A €165,000 yearling, he is an own-brother to Prix de l’Abbaye victor Wooded.

CITY OF TROY (USA)

3yo by Justify ex Together Forever (Galileo)

Coolmore Stud €75,000

2023’s unbeaten champion two-year-old and one of the most talked about horses of 2024 will stand for the highest price of any new boy in 2025.

Aidan O’Brien’s charge won the Group 2 Superlative Stakes and Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes by a combined 10 lengths, but his Epsom Derby victory was perhaps his most memorable. Bouncing back from his 2000 Guineas disappointment, he strode two and three quarter lengths clear of Ambiente Friendly, with another three and a quarter lengths back to Los Angeles in third.

The son of Justify and Fillies Mile heroine Together Forever completed a hat-trick of Group 1 wins in the Coral-Eclipse and Juddmonte International, but was denied a fitting swansong on the Del Mar dirt.

DUBAI MILE (IRE)

5yo by Roaring Lion ex Beach Bunny (High Chaparral)

Coolagown Stud €4,000

With Martyn Meade disbanding his stallion roster at Manton Park, David Stack has the pleasure of standing Roaring Lion’s Group 1 winner Dubai Mile, on behalf of Ahmad Al Shaikh.

After earning a rating of 90 for his first two wins, Charlie and Mark Johnston’s colt chased home The Foxes in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes. He went one better next time out in the Group 1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud, a race won by such successful National Hunt sires as Fame And Glory, Pistolet Bleu, Poliglote and Voix du Nord.

Dubai Mile is one of three stakes horses out of Group 1 runner-up Beach Bunny, and hails from the family of Miss France and Miss Tahiti.

ELM PARK (GB)

13yo by Phoenix Reach ex Lady Brora (Dashing Blade)

Claremount Stud €1,000

Padraig and Paul Moroney acquired promising young sire Elm Park from France during the 2024 breeding season. The bay’s first crop includes multiple listed-placed hurdler Jeu Tentant and Willie Mullins’ well-regarded C’Est Ta Chance, who made a winning hurdle debut last month.

Trained by Andrew Balding, Elm Park won four of his five starts as a juvenile, three of them at stakes level. Successful in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes, he subsequently impressed in the Group 1 that was then known as the Racing Post Trophy.

He returned to chase home Golden Horn and Jack Hobbs in the Dante Stakes and returned to winning ways in a listed race at Sandown.

GO BEARS GO (IRE)

6yo by Kodi Bear ex In Dubai (Giant’s Causeway)

Springfield House Stud €8,000

Go Bear Go’s best performances came as a two and three-year-old, when trained by David Loughnane. The AMO Racing-owned colt was beaten just a head by Perfect Power in the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes, before gaining some redemption in the Group 2 Railway Stakes.

He went on to take third in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes, before getting within a length of old foe Perfect Power in the Middle Park Stakes. Runner-up in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint on his final start that season, he returned to land the Group 3 Commonwealth Cup Trial and later gained his third group win in the Phoenix Sprint Stakes.

He is out of a half-sister to dual Group/Grade 1 winner Nahrain, herself the dam of Group 1 winners Benbatl and Emalka.

HENRY LONGFELLOW (IRE)

4yo by Dubawi ex Minding (Galileo)

Coolmore Stud €15,000

Henry Longfellow emulated his sire when extending his unbeaten juvenile record in the Group 1 National Stakes. Aidan O’Brien’s charge won by an impressive five lengths, following up on his comfortable two-length success in the Group 2 Futurity Stakes.

As a three-year-old, he finished third in the Prix du Moulin and went close in the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes, beaten just a neck by Irish 2000 Guineas victor Rosallion. French 2000 Guineas winner Metropolitan finished three lengths behind them in third, followed by Grade 1 scorer Unquestionable, with Notable Speech among the remainder.

Dubawi’s successful stallion sons include Night Of Thunder, Too Darn Hot, New Bay and Zarak.

KING OF STEEL (USA)

5yo Wootton Bassett ex Eldacar (Verglas)

Tally Ho Stud €20,000

An impressive debut winner as a two-year-old, King Of Steel announced himself as a talented three-year-old when leading before the two-furlong pole in the Epsom Derby, only to be reeled in by Auguste Rodin, the pair drawing clear of the third.

Connections gained some redemption at Ascot, where he ran out a commanding winner of the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes, but his pinnacle performance was beating Via Sistina in the QIPCO Champion Stakes.

The son of sire sensation Wootton Bassett is out of an own-sister to a Group 2 performer, and hails from the family of Contributer.

LOOK DE VEGA (FR)

4yo by Lope De Vega ex Lucelle (High Chaparral)

Ballylinch Stud €20,000

Look De Vega becomes the third Prix du Jockey Club winner on the Ballylinch Stud roster, joining his sire Lope De Vega and New Bay.

The new addition’s grandsire Shamardal also won the French classic, as did Le Havre, Montjeu and Peintre Celebre, to name just a few. Former Ballylinch resident Lawman also features in the honour roll, as he does in Look De Vega’s pedigree.

Look De Vega completed a hat-trick in the Group 1, having bolted up on his sole juvenile start and impressed on his three-year-old return. He was subsequently purchased privately by the partnership that currently own the bay, which includes Ballylinch, Al Shaqab and Ecurie des Charmes.

LUXEMBOURG (IRE)

6yo by Camelot ex Attire (Danehill Dancer)

Castlehyde Stud €7,000

Coolmore’s only new addition to their National Hunt division, Luxembourg, retires after a career-best season for his sire Camelot. That makes him a grandson of Montjeu, a top-class sire in his own right, and now an important influence in the jumps scene. His best jumper was the great Hurricane Fly, while his most successful sons at stud are Walk In The Park and Authorized. Jukebox Jury is a younger flagbearer, while Wings Of Eagles is showing early promise. Luxembourg recorded his first Group 1 win during a flawless juvenile campaign and went on to win the highest level as a three, four and five-year-old. His four Group 1 placings included a short-head defeat to Romantic Warrior in the Hong Kong Cup.

Luxembourg will not be available to view next weekend as he in quarantine.

MARTINBOROUGH (JPN)

16yo by Deep Impact ex Halwa Song (Nureyev)

Capital Stud Private

Martinborough is the latest addition to Capital Stud’s growing roster, having stood his first seven seasons in France. A dual group winner in his native Japan, it is for his early runners that this son of Deep Impact has attracted the most attention.

They include Willie Mullins’ Triumph Hurdle winner Majborough, who beat talented stablemates Tullyhill and Asian Master on his chase debut last month. Interestingly, that same crop produced Elusive Princess, a Grade 3 winner on the flat in the US and runner-up in the Group 1 Prix Saint-Alary.

She recently sold for €480,000, while promising Auteuil debutant Catch On Me sold to Guy Petit for €120,000 in September and is now listed as having been exported to the UK. As well as his Grade 1-winning flagbearer, Martinborough is responsible for two listed hurdle winners, with four more listed-placed over jumps, and three blacktype performers on the flat.

MASAR (IRE)

10yo by New Approach ex Khawlah (Cape Cross)

Sunnyhill Stud Private

After five seasons at Godolphin’s Dalham Hall, the beautifully-bred Epsom Derby hero Masar joins Fifty Stars at Sunnyhill Stud. Though his commercial appeal had dimmed in the flat sphere, his first crop (three-year-olds in 2024) still produced some talented horses.

They included €300,000 Arc Sale buy Arpenteur, Meydan stakes performer Yamamah, Old Rowley Cup runner-up Mount Atlas (OR98) and Andy Slattery’s progressive Cloud Seeker, who is rated 85 after completing a four-timer.

From just four runners over hurdles so far, Masar has sired three winners. Noel George and Amanda Zetterholm’s Stencil, who is now owned by JP McManus, won his first two starts at Compiegne. The Gavin Cromwell-trained Robbies Rock scored at Cork, before finishing fourth in listed company at Limerick over Christmas, while Flowering made a successful hurdle bow for Dan Skelton.

MILL STREAM (IRE)

5yo by Gleneagles ex Swirral Edge (Hellvelyn)

Yeomanstown Stud €12,500

As Gleneagles’ star continues to rise, his only Group 1 winner over sprint distances, Mill Stream, joins the O’Callaghan family’s Co Kildare roster. A highly-rated two-year-old, Jane Chapple-Hyam’s charge bay progressed to win two stakes races at Deauville as a three-year-old, with both the listed and Group 3 coming over six furlongs.

He proved even better at four, landing the Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes, before finishing third in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot, and achieved a career-best when winning the Group 1 July Cup. Sold by breeder Redpender Stud as a yearling for 350,000gns, Mill Stream is a half-brother to Richmond Stakes winner and Prix Morny third Asymmetric.

SAKHEER (IRE)

5yo by Zoffany ex Shortmile Lady (Arcano)

Ballyhane Stud €6,500

A significant injury meant that Sakheer ran just four times from three to four, but his Mill Reef Stakes victory has aged well in that time.

Roger Varian’s charge ran out an impressive winner, scoring by three and a half lengths, with Charyn back in third. His stablemate won a Group 2 next time out, but it’s his three Group 1 wins and title of champion miler in 2024 that really boosts the form.

Sakheer first demonstrated his ability at the Arqana Breeze-Up Sale, where he topped trade at €550,000. He was bought by Oliver St Lawrence on behalf of KHK Racing, who have retained some ownership in the Zoffany half-brother to Lemista, a three-time winner at group/graded level.

SHOULDVEBEENARING (GB)

5yo by Havana Grey ex Lady Estella (Equiano)

Irish National Stud €6,000

The Irish National Stud are hoping to capitalise on the meteoric rise of Havana Grey with his four-time stakes winner Shouldvebeenaring. Trained by Richard Hannon, the grey won two listed races and a Group 3, but got within a head of Group 1 glory in the Haydock Sprint Cup.

Also placed in the Prix de la Foret, he earned over £550,000 during his career, making him Havana Grey’s second-highest earner, separating Hong Kong sprinter Reward Smile and dual Group 1 winner Vandeek.

He was bred by Whistbury Manor Stud out of a daughter of former Irish National Stud sire Equiano, who shares his sire Acclamation with Dark Angel – the damsire of Havana Grey.

TECHNICIAN (IRE)

8yo by Mastercraftsman ex Arosa (Sadler’s Wells)

Knockmullen House Stud €2,000

Technician is one of two stallions to transfer from Martyn Meade’s Manton Park to Gearoid Doyle’s base for the 2025 season. He stood his first two seasons alongside the likes of No Risk At All at Haras de Montaigu, and his first crop turn two in 2025. The Barronstown Stud-bred grey won four stakes races as a three-year-old, most notably winning the Group 2 Prix Chaudeney and Group 1 Prix Royal-Oak. Winners of the latter, the equivalent of the French St Leger, include Yeats, Turgeon and Westerner.

The late Mastercraftsman shares his sire Danehill Dancer with the much-missed Jeremy, and Technician’s pedigree also appeals on his dam’s side. A blacktype Sadler’s Wells mare, she is an own-sister to two group winners, and hails from the Aga Khan family of Shahrastani.

TELESCOPE (IRE)

15yo by Galileo ex Velouette (Darshaan)

Foxwood Farm €3,000

Donal White adds dual Group 2 winner and Group 1 performer Telescope to his fledgeling farm from the 2025 season. The son of Galileo previously stood at Shade Oak Stud in the UK, but his top performer - Supreme Novices’ Hurdle victor Slade Steel - is trained in Ireland.

The now seven-year-old hails from Telescope’s second crop, as does dual listed winner Harvard Guy, who finished second in a Grade 3 on his latest start, and Richard Hobson’s progressive chaser Some Scope, who recently won the Grade 3 Meyrick Handicap Chase.

Telescope’s stock at the 2024 store sales sold for up to €60,000, with Highflyer Bloodstock purchasing his two highest-priced offerings. Point-to-point handlers were also among the buyers, including Ballycrystal Stables, Gaynestown Stud, Monbeg Stables and Warren Ewing.

TWILIGHT SON (GB)

13yo by Kyllachy ex Twilight Mistress (Bin Ajwaad)

Annshoon Stud €5,000

Kyllachy’s dual Group 1 winner moves to Kilkenny after being purchased by Michael Shefflin and Yousef Arhim. The lack of a top-flight winner may have been the reason for Cheveley Park Stud selling the bay, but he is a reliable source of stakes performers.

In 2024, his progeny achieved a 40% strike rate in Britain and Ireland, four of them listed winners. Beautiful Diamond, third in the Queen Mary in 2023, gained her second stakes success last summer, before chasing home Believing in the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes.

Weatherbys Super Sprint winner Caburn is one to watch in 2025, when Twilight Son has 52 two-year-olds to run for him. They sold for up to €100,000 at the yearling sales, while his blacktype three-year-old Expected Arrival fetched 115,000gns last month.
