12.00 Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase 2m5f

This could go to Archies Charm, who has some pretty smart form in the book, most notably a close second to Final Orders at Down Royal. He was well held on his next start at Gowran Park - 18-length third to Dunboyne - but that was on very heavy ground and he may be able to resume his progression now back on a sounder surface.

Ballykeel is one to consider also. Gordon Elliott’s gelding has shown up well enough in his three beginners chases but now gets a chance in handicap company. He has the scope to progress again.

12.35 Pigsback.com Maiden Hurdle

At a big price this morning, Transmission could be worth chancing in an admittedly hot maiden hurdle. Colm Murphy’s gelding split Inthepocket and Joyeux Machin on his hurdling bow at Wexford, and though he disappointed when taking in a bumper on his latest start, he ought to be better suited now to jumping again.

Madmansgame is the choice of Paul Townend from the Willie Mullins duo. He won a Navan bumper last season before failing to land a blow in the Cheltenham and Punchestown Champion Bumpers. Barry Connell’s Good Land is also worth considering, despite the fact he didn’t get very far on his first try at a maiden hurdle earlier this month.

1.10 BeattheBank.ie Irish EBF Mares Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m4f

This is essentially a match between Queens Brook and Shewearsitwell, who will dominate the market accordingly. Preference is for the former, Gordon Elliott’s mare, who got better as the season went on last term and comes into this race off the back of a decent winning display at Punchestown.

It’s worth noting that she does have to concede 3lbs to Shewearsitwell, who officially is best treated, but she appeared to put up a career best at three miles on her previous run, and though she’ll have no problem coming back to this trip, she may not be as good as she was at Punchestown.

1.45 Neville Hotels Novice Chase 3m

He has yet to win in seven starts over fences but it’s difficult to see past Gaillard Du Mesnil breaking his duck in this Grade 1. Willie Mullins’s six-year-old finished third on all six starts last season but elevated his level ast the season went on and he made a highly promising start to his second novice season when second to Mighty Potter in the Drinmore. That was over two and a half miles, so considering he has Grade 1 form over today’s trip of three miles, the scope is there for him to improve again.

In contrast, this trip is a bit of an unknown for Three Stripe Life, but he’ll be a big player if improving for the extra stamina test. A race-ending error did for him in the Drinmore, but he looked good on his chasing bow at Naas previously and was a solid Grade 1 novice hurdler last term.

2.20 Matheson Hurdle (Grade 1) 2m

Sharjah bids for a record five-timer and will have plenty of supporters back at his favourite track but he has a tough task of reversing form with his stablemate State Man. The Morgiana winner didn’t blow many away with the manner of his victory at Punchestown but ultimately his turn of foot before the straight was too much for Sharjah, who could only make inroads when the race was over.

The presence of the four-year-olds Pied Piper and Vauban, adds intrigue but both have a tough task in open company here.

2.55 I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Novice Handicap Hurdle 2m 4f

This can go to Green Glory, who has already been warm in the market. He has run reasonably well without making a significant impact in maiden hurdles but this looks an easier assignment for him now off a mark of 111.

Typical Thomas is also with noting. He has been second to a couple of nice horses recently, and has the scope to improve further now.

There wasn’t much between Lecky Watson and Cato Capone last time and that may well prove the case here, but Special Cadeau could beat them both. He is a most interesting proposition, having moved over from Pam Sly’s yard after winning a Huntingdon bumper. He is out of a 1000 Guineas winner in Speciosa.

King Of Kingsfield should also have a say in what looks a good bumper. He won comfortably at Down Royal and should come forward from that effort.
