Sir, - There is a lot of debate at the moment about what will happen to Irish racing on television when bookmakers will no longer be allowed to advertise during daylight hours.

It would seem to me that other companies, business directly or otherwise, involved in racing could take their place.

I would have in mind companies like bloodstock sales, agents, The Irish Field, large stud farms, horse feed companies, bloodstock transport, racecourses and businesses who are indirectly involved such as hotels and coach hire companies.

Surely, rather than have the racing channels vanish from television screens, some, if not most, of these companies would place adverts, if asked. - Yours etc.,,
