Leopardstown maiden hurdle winner Intellotto should appreciate these calmer waters having contested a Grade 1 race on his most recent outing. Although finishing seventh, the Joseph O’Brien-trained juvenile ran a good deal better than that form suggests, only weakening on the run to the final flight. This looks like a nice opportunity to regain the winning thread. Karl Des Tourelles surprised connections when making a winning debut at odds of 100/1 at Gowran Park last month. However, he travelled strongly through that race, before picking up well, so there appeared to be no fluke despite his huge starting price.

Willie Mullins can complete an opening race double with A Penny A Hundred holding strong claims. Runner-up in similar company at Fairyhouse earlier in the year, the five-year-old is proven at this venue having opened her account over flights here last October. Stepping up in trip is unlikely to be cause for concern, given that her half-brother won over further. Point-to-point winner Bioluminescene should appreciate this extended trip more than most. The Gavin Cromwell-trained mare ran her best race to date when stepped up last time at Punchestown. With only the three runs under rules to date, she is totally unexposed with huge potential.

Top-weight He Fitz In may be able to record a third career success for trainer Davy Fitzgerald. The eight-year-old remains in good heart, having finished runner-up on his three most recent starts. In a race where few appear to have strong claims, the gelding is almost sure to give his running. A reproduction of his most recent efforts would most likely suffice.

Made In The Woods, a course winner over fences, is much better handicapped over fences. Trainer Norman Lee does particularly well with his runners at this track, so the seven-year-old has to be given serious consideration.

Oscars Brother can shed his maiden tag at the second time of asking. Runner-up on his racecourse debut at Cork in January, the form of that particular race has worked out exceptionally well subsequently. The winner went on to win in Grade 3 company, while the third and fourth placed horses, have each landed their respective maidens of late. Find A Fortune looks the biggest danger for the Gordon Elliott yard. The seven-year-old sets a fair standard off a mark of 119 but would almost certainly be vulnerable to a more lightly raced, unexposed opponent.

Locally-trained Falco Blitz can defy topweight for Eric and Conor McNamara. An impressive winner at Thurles last time, the 10-year-old has been raised 7lbs but still looks well treated on his best form. A smart handicapper when trained in Britain by Nicky Henderson, the gelding showed that he was far from a spent force when powering clear at the Tipperary track. Course and distance winner R’evelyn Pleasure was no match for Falco Blitz last month but has to be respected at this track. The 12-year-old impressed when winning here over Christmas so clearly enjoys the Patrickswell venue.

Chosen Diamond can make a successful return to chasing, having run very well over hurdles of late.

A winner over fences at Navan in November, he reverted to the smaller obstacles following a couple of disappointing efforts. Provided that his jumping holds up on this drop back in trip, the eight-year-old should be hard to beat.

Hurricane Cliff will need to take a significant step forward from his comeback run at Down Royal in January but the gelding is lightly-raced over fences and would appear to be nicely handicapped relative to his hurdles mark.

Fifth in what is traditionally a decent bumper at Leopardstown over Christmas, the Edward O’Grady-trained Our Soldier should be good enough here. The five-year-old stayed on in determined fashion at the Foxrock venue having been outpaced before the straight.

As a full-brother to a bumper winner of Paul Nicholls, he is certainly bred for the job.

Broderick catches the eye amongst the unraced horses. A half-brother to a black type horse, the four-year-old gets plenty of weight from his elders in this restricted contest.
