2.10 Kerry Group 3YO Hurdle 2m

The Insider could be good enough to concede weight in this intriguing contest. A moderate sort on the level, the gelding has been transformed since moving to Gordon Elliott and having his attention switched to hurdling. Despite carrying penalties for his two wins, he may just have enough in hand.

Common Practice has to be of obvious interest, given his mark of 83 on the flat. In theory, he should have too much class for these but such horses don’t always take to hurdling.

Nikini is thoroughly unexposed over hurdles after just the one start. She landed the odds in a weak affair at Kilbeggan but is better judged on her fourth-place finish in a Grade 3 bumper at Punchestown. Trainer Willie Mullins could have run any number of mares here, so the hint should be taken.

Locally owned and trained mare Blanketontheground is certain to have been targeted at this race for some time. She should be at her peak following two solid efforts in handicap company.

Royal Eagle looks well-handicapped in this code. A winner of a novice hurdle at the Galway festival, she subsequently won nicely on the flat at Tramore. On the evidence of that latter run, a mark of 106 could prove quite lenient over hurdles.

Lady Heath has yet to strike over hurdles, but the former Down Royal bumper winner clearly retains her ability. Given her experience, it would be no surprise to see a big run.

Run For Pat can get his head in front at the ninth attempt. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding has run some solid races in maiden company and is proven over the trip. His prominent racing style should be seen to good advantage around here.

Galway bumper winner What Path rates the main danger. The five-year-old made all on that occasion before keeping on well. He may just be vulnerable to the more experienced Elliott runner now.

Chemical Energy is likely to do much better on this second start over fences. A well-beaten favourite at Kilbeggan on his first attempt, that tight turning track may not have suited.

A very useful novice hurdler last winter, he is surely capable of much more over fences.

Whosgotyanow was impressive when making all at Killarney last month. The Andrew Slattery-trained mare should be suited to this track where prominent runners tend to do well.

Easy Game can follow up his 2021 win by making it back-to-back successes in this contest.

A very smart horse over this trip, he won four on the bounce earlier this year before a mid-division effort in the Galway Plate. That latter run can be upgraded somewhat though, as he suffered interference.

Stablemate and former Irish Gold Cup winner Kemboy is well treated by race conditions. However, he may well have loftier targets as the season progresses and could be vulnerable at this trip nowadays.

Cillians Charm could be another bumper winner for Anthony McCann. The stable has managed to develop a good reputation with their runners in this sphere of late. The form of his mid-division finish in the Cheltenham bumper is fair form in the context of this race.

Polo Lounge has been a beaten favourite on all three starts but clearly has plenty of ability.

He travelled like the best horse in the race at Killarney last time but was outstayed by the winner. This easier track will suit.
