BARONE Racing sponsored both divisions of the concluding two-and-a-half-mile handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse on Tuesday when there was an apt winner of the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase in the Dermot McLoughlin-trained Laughing Trix.

The eight-year-old Court Cave mare, who was adding this victory over fences to those in a point-to-point maiden at Tattersalls and a handicap hurdle at Downpatrick, was bred by Barone Racing’s Barney O’Hare out of Present Trix.

Two of the Presenting mare’s other four foals ran at Portrush last month for owner/trainer Gary Dillon.

Partnered by Deckie Lavery, the Robin Des Champ nine-year-old Drumlee Castle won the older geldings’ maiden in which his two-year-younger Court Cave half-brother, Buzzard Trix, the even-money favourite, unseated Noel McParlan six out.

Mullins winner

The opening race at Fairyhouse, the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Beginners Chase over three miles, was won by the Emmet Mullins-trained 6/5 favourite, Rightplacerighttime, who made all the running.

The six-year-old Kalanisi gelding was bred outside Belfast by Robert Morrow and is the last of just three foals out of the unraced Dushyantor mare Papavero, a half-sister to the five-time winner Glen Money (by Le Moss). This is the family of Waiting Patiently, Ciara’s Prince, Miller Hill, Mighty Mogul, etc.

Armagh yard

Later on the card, the Ronan McNally-owned and -trained Petrol Head won the two-and-a-half-mile handicap hurdle on his second start for the Armagh yard. Recording his first win on his 12th start, the five-year-old Valirann gelding is out of the unraced King’s Theatre mare Lizzy Langtry, dam previously of three winners and a half-sister to the six-time winner Farmer Brown (by Bob Back).
