THE equestrian community are saddened this morning following the sudden passing of expert photojournalist Ruth Rogers last night (Tuesday).

For over 50 years, Ruth Rogers’s camera documented Ireland’s racing and sport horse scene. Her name was synonymous in Irish and international Connemara Pony breeding circles where she unstintingly reported and photographed countless Connemara Pony shows over the years for The Irish Field among other publications.

Just last February, Ruth was presented with a Special Recognition Award for her contribution to the industry at the Irish Horse World awards in The K Club, Co Kildare.

She was a wonderful advocate for the Connemara Pony and hugely dedicated to her work as a photojournalist. She will be sadly missed by family and huge group of friends and colleagues. RIP.

Funeral arrangements:

Reposing at her home on Sunday (July 7th) from 2pm until 6pm. Funeral Service on Monday (July 8th) in St Mary’s Church Moate at 11am. Burial afterwards in Ballymadun Cemetery, Ashbourne, Co.Meath at 2pm (approx).
