12.40 Naas Business Club Novice Chase (Grade 3) 3m 170yds

Run Wild Fred sets a high standard with a rating of 158 and he gets the vote to succeed in a quality edition of this race. An easy winner of the Troytown Chase off a mark of 145, he ran a creditable second to Fury Road in a Leopardstown Grade 1 at Christmas when his chances weren’t helped by a glaring error at the seventh last fence.

On the whole he is an excellent jumper who enjoys decent ground and he gets the vote ahead of Stattler. The latter showed up well in 3m Grade 1 novice hurdles at Cheltenham and Punchestown last season and began his chasing career with a very taking success in a Fairyhouse beginners’ chase over 2m 5f last month.

Farouk D’Alene was only just denied in a Grade 1 at Limerick over Christmas and remains a novice of some promise and should relish this trip but might prefer slower ground.

Last season’s Cheltenham hero Vanillier is respected but won’t find this easy under an 8lb Grade 2 penalty.

SELECTION: RUN WILD FRED

1.10 Naas Tidy Towns Voted Cleanest Town in Ireland 2021 Novice Handicap Chase 2m 4f 90yds

This could see Regina Dracones make it three wins in succession. She struck over 2m at Clonmel early last month and then won a novice handicap chase over an extended 2m 6f at Limerick over Christmas. She is now 8lb higher but did seem to win with something to spare, and her capacity to cope with different trips on varying types of ground is a notable positive. There could be more to come from her as a chaser.

Carrolls Cottage looks a likely contender. He was beaten 6l into second on his handicap chase debut at Cork several weeks when he chased home a well-treated rival in Street Value. He can certainly progress further as a chaser.

SELECTION: REGINA DRACONES

Saint Felicien is an unknown quantity but might just be equal to the task at hand. This French import impressed on his Irish debut at Gowran Park in November when he landed a winners’ hurdle in style, travelling and jumping well, and appearing to defeat the subsequently Grade 2-placed Slip Of The Tongue with plenty to spare. This represents a notable step-up in class but he appeals as a horse with graded race potential.

Darasso won’t find this easy by virtue of his penalty for landing the Lismullen Hurdle at Navan earlier in the season but he sets a good standard. This 150-rated hurdler returns to action off a two-month break and was last seen when running a creditable fourth to Honeysuckle in the Grade 1 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle.

Whiskey Sour is interesting having shown signs of a return to form in a good handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse a couple of months ago.

SELECTION: SAINT FELICIEN

2.10 Naas Racecourse Maiden Hurdle (Div I) 1m 7f 156yds

This could see Champion Green make up for a luckless outing at Punchestown recently when he was pulled up early on with a slipped saddle. His previous second to Doctor Churchill in a Limerick maiden hurdle represents a solid effort and he also shaped up well at Cork on his hurdling debut.

The 111-rated Saywhatyouwant was well beaten by Pied Piper in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown but her previous third to Britzka at Fairyhouse would suggest that she could play a part in the finish.

Only Sky won a flat handicap off a rating of 77 during the summer. That would suggest that she should make a capable juvenile hurdler.

SELECTION: CHAMPION GREEN

2.40 Naas Racecourse Maiden Hurdle (Div II) 1m 7f 156yds

Evergreen And Red could be able to make a winning start over timber. He was a dual winner on the flat last season when he made steady progress over the course of the campaign as evidenced by a rating that rose by 22lb.

It is interesting that he got a Triumph Hurdle entry this week and that would suggest that he should be quite capable of getting closely involved.

Faron posted two good runs over 1m 2f last year, the latest of which yielded a third to Very Excellent in a Dundalk maiden in November. He looks a capable recruit to hurdling.

Brunello’s fifth to Pied Piper at Punchestown appeals as being quite a reasonable run and he should not be far away.

SELECTION: EVERGREEN AND RED

3.10 I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Maiden Hurdle 2m 3f

Already a dual bumper winner this season, The Nice Guy might be able to make a winning start over hurdles. He defeated a couple of capable types to win a Fairyhouse bumper on his debut in late November and then accounted for a field of previous winners at Leopardstown at Christmas. He looks a nice type and might deal with stablemate Ramillies.

The latter won a Leopardstown Christmas bumper last season and then shaped vastly better than his final position would suggest in a series of championship bumpers last spring. He could make a smart recruit to hurdling.

The Short Go must have a chance based on his debut third to Hawai Game here in mid-December.

SELECTION: THE NICE GUY

Womalko can continue his trainer’s good run of form. He is 12lb higher in the weights as a result of a very easy handicap hurdle success at Limerick over Christmas. That success was achieved on heavy ground over 2m 3f and these conditions will represent a different challenge. However, his Limerick display gave the impression that he was a horse firmly on the up.

Union Park is a solid alternative based on his showing at Thurles last weekend when he was third to Light Brigade. He will be closely involved if running to that level.

Neveradullmoment could be interesting on his second handicap outing.

SELECTION: WOMALKO

Santonito can make it third time lucky on the track. He started his career with a pleasing second to The Nice Guy at Fairyhouse and then lost nothing in defeat next time when going down by a nose to Embassy Gardens in a 2m 4f bumper at Leopardstown over Christmas. He showed some fine qualities at Leopardstown and a repeat of that performance could make him hard to beat.

An obvious threat is Seabank Bistro who hails from the family of two quality representatives for his trainer in Killultagh Storm and Killultagh Vic.

SELECTION: SANTONITO
