NAVAN Racecourse employee Paddy Flood was laid to rest yesterday. He died suddenly at his home on Tuesday.

Racecourse manager Aidan McGarry said: “Paddy started here in the early ‘80s and was here right through until recent months.

“He worked on the track maintenance side of things and always took pride in his work. A quadruple heart bypass eight years ago meant he had to cut back on some of the physical work but he still loved his racedays at Navan, assisting in various aspects such as the stable allocation, horsebox security, et cetera.

“Paddy was always a valued and hugely popular member of the team here at Navan with his colleagues and he will be greatly missed.”
