11.45 Kilberry Pub & Kitchen Maiden Hurdle 2m 4f

Gordon Elliott and Bective Stud took this maiden hurdle with Ginto last season and it may be significant they have three declared for this renewal. The most promising of the trio could be Fivefox, by Walk In The Park and a half brother to the same owner’s useful The Bosses Oscar. He could be talented enough to defy his inexperience and win first time up.

Hartur D’Arc looks a threat. He won his point-to-point in good style and showed promise in two bumpers last season, improving from his debut effort to win at Cork. There might also be improvement to come from Got To Fly, who ran sixth on her debut at Limerick last month. She is another Walk In The Park and is out of her trainer’s very useful mare Jacksonslady.

SELECTION: FIVEFOX

Next best: Hartur D’Arc

12.15 Tynan’s Bridge House Handicap Hurdle 2m 6f

In a wide-open contest, The Dabbler rates a solid proposition to give his running. He wasn’t beaten far when fifth in this race three years ago and has since raced mainly over fences, where he has upgraded his form. He returns to hurdles now off a 15lb lower mark and showed when third at Sligo on his penultimate start, that he can at least be effective over the smaller obstacles.

Enjoy D’Allen is a standout pick if he is ready to roll. He can run off a mark 31lbs lower than his chase assessment but the suspicion is he may be prepping for bigger targets back over fences.

What Ua Doin might be one to consider at a long price. She showed significant improvement since joining Matthew Smith’s yard, winning at Wexford by 15 lengths last May just before she ran well to be second in a novice hurdle.

Flame Bearer is an intriguing runner, now having his first start for Willie Mullins having progressed very nicely through the ranks for Pat Doyle last season. He finished up his year with a very solid second to State Man in a Grade 1 at Punchestown. That is undoubtedly strong form but Colonel Mustard had similar standard results last season, notably when third to Sir Gerhard at the Dublin Racing Festival and filling that same position again behind State Man in the County Hurdle. He’ll likely be a bigger price than Flame Bearer but there may not be much between them.

Hollow Games has also got smart novice hurdle form but all of it came over two and a half miles or further so it’s a little surprise to see him start off over this trip. Heart Wood is an intriguing French recruit for Henry de Bromhead and Robcour having shown lots of ability over hurdles in his native country.

SELECTION: COLONEL MUSTARD

Next best: Flame Bearer

1.20 Gibney’s For Auction Novice Hurdle (Grade 3) 2m

This could throw up a horse to follow for the bigger contests this season. Three Card Brag really caught the eye in Galway, hitting the front early there but really stayed on strongly up the hill to see off a nice prospect in Sandor Clegane. The time for that race was smart, faster than the effort of Path D’Oroux, who looked impressive on the same card. Gordon Elliott’s horse should come on for that experience and fitness, and can enhance his profile further today.

Hercule De Seuil was a wide margin winner at Tipperary and another who clocked a good time. He was given time after running disappointingly in a a Leopardstown maiden hurdle last season and looks to be all the better for it now.

Imagine was workmanlike in his win at Wexford but remains a potentially nice hurdler, whereas Kiki Badger comes on a hat-trick but will have to raise his game significantly.

SELECTION: THREE CARD BRAG

Next best: Sandor Clegane

1.55 Railway Bar Lismullen Hurdle (Grade 2) 2m 4f

Flooring Porter set out to make it a real test in this contest last season but although he held the lead at the second last where he fell, it wasn’t a done deal, and the dual Stayers’ Hurdle winner has more on his plate today.

Bob Olinger is naturally an intriguing runner back over hurdles and back over this distance. Bar his blip at Punchestown, he didn’t do an awful lot wrong last season, and although well held by Galopin Des Champs before that rival fell at Cheltenham, there was no disgrace in that. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he was to win today but it’s his first start of the season and he looks short in the betting.

This will be a nice sighter for connections of Zanahiyr in to whether he can compete in the staying hurdle division this term. There is every chance he can but Ashdale Bob is further down the line in this regard, having progressed nicely through the ranks last season which culminated with a second to Klassical Dream at Punchestown. He is also a Grade 2 winner over this course and distance and was just touched off by Thedevilscoachman here last season.

He looks a good each-way proposition, while Commander Of Fleet, his Cheltenham conqueror is also noted given he won at this track last season.

SELECTION: ASHDALE BOB

Next best: Bob Olinger

2.30 Sean P. Muldoon & Patrick F. Gormley Fortria Chase (Grade 2) 2m

Ferny Hollow is the most likely winner but at odds-on makes little appeal. Willie Mullins’s seven-year-old only managed two runs last season but looked very good when conceding age and sex allowances to Riviere D’Etel at Leopardstown on St Stephen’s Day. An injury ruled him out for the rest of the season, as was the case in his novice hurdle year, so he has been devoid of opportunities to gain experience. You’d imagine he will have been brought on gently and so he might just be vulnerable today.

This is no penalty kick either with Captain Guinness, Andy Dufresne and old rival Riviere D’Etel in opposition. Of that trio, marginal preference is for the last-mentioned, Gordon Elliott’s mare who made hay this time last season, including one bloodless victory at this track. Again, she will receive a big weight allowance from Ferny Hollow, who has a Grade 1 penalty, and she strikes as one who could be well tuned up.

It’s also worth noting that Andy Dufresne has a good record at this track and has been very lightly raced over fences thus far, so there may well be plenty to come.

SELECTION: RIVIERE D’ETEL

Next best: Andy Dufresne

3.05 Hotel Park St. Johann In Tirol Austria Handicap Hurdle 2m

Sil Ver Klass is handicapped to win this two-mile contest. Tony Martin’s eight-year-old has been in fine form all year, especially over fences having placed in a good handicap chase at the Punchestown festival and won on his penultimate start at Listowel. His hurdles mark is a stone lower and his latest run in that sphere was a very good third to Sit Down Lucky in a €75,000 handicap hurdle at the Galway festival.

There are loads of dangers which include Fortunedefortunata who made a winning start for Gordon Elliott in good style at Galway, and can progres further now.

SELECTION: SILVER KLASS

Fermoyle can make the most of a fitness edge and get off the mark. Noel Meade’s four-year-old went close to winning on his debut when finding only But What too good at Punchestown. He should be able to progress from that.

Found A Fifty and Givehimthehonour both catch the eye as former point-to-point winners making their track debuts now.
