CATHY Grassick has formally taken over as chair of the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association. Cathal Beale was appointed interim vice-chair at the ITBA’s recent annual general meeting.

Grassick, who succeeds John McEnery in the role, said: “I am delighted and honoured to take over as chairman of the ITBA for the next two years.

“I have been a part of the association for well over 15 years, at regional and council level, and most recently in my role of vice-chair under the guidance of John McEnery.

“I know first-hand the challenges and opportunities facing our industry at present and I aim to use my time as chairman to drive the Association forward, working closely with our council, its committees and the wider membership, as the ITBA continues to represent Irish breeders at the highest level.”

Grassick added: “I am looking forward to a return to a busy Association calendar following on from the online nature of our meetings and seminars due to Covid.

“We are looking forward to revitalising both our regional committees and the ITBA Next Generation Committee and we encourage members to get in touch and get involved.

“The ITBA is your association and your council and management team will continue to work tirelessly in their efforts to promote, educate and assist Irish breeders.”
