MULLINGAR Equestrian Centre is hosting their Christmas Show on December 27th next and their New Year Derby Show on Monday, January 2nd. All are most welcome to come along.

Clooney’s retirement

MARTIN Fuchs’ wonderful gelding Clooney 51 will be officially retired in front of his home crowd at CHI Geneva on Sunday afternoon before the start of the Rolex Grand Prix, which he won in 2019. The winner of five-star Grands Prix in Zurich, Basel, Lyon, among others, as well as individual gold at the 2019 European Championships and silver at the 2018 WEG, Clooney was injured in the field after the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Fuchs said: “He deserves to have a ceremony that reflects his fabulous career and the genius that he is. I am very much looking forward to this farewell, which promises to be very emotional, and during which I will be surrounded by the great Geneva public, my family, my team and my friends.”

CPBS Christmas show

THE Connemara Pony Breeders’ Society Christmas Show takes place at Creagh Equestrian Centre in Ballinasloe, Co Galway tomorrow, Sunday. There will be two foals classes and a championship, as well as a mini young handlers and young handlers class. The show starts at 11am and will include a special guest in Santa Claus!

Glamourdale in London

BRITISH world champion Lottie Fry will ride Glamourdale at the five-star London International Horse Show (LIHS) next week, in what will be their first show since winning double gold at the World Championships in Herning during the summer. It will be the first time the stunning 11-year-old stallion, who took the crowd’s breath away in Herning with his huge paces, will compete on British soil.
