Flexi Eventing

series set to begin

THE very popular Baileys Horse Feeds Flexi Eventing series at The Meadows Equestrian Centre begins next Saturday, January 15th and runs each Saturday until March 5th. The actual league will run for seven weeks and prizes will be awarded on the final non-qualifying day (March 5th).

The series has been generously sponsored to the tune of £1,000 by Baileys Horse Feeds with points being awarded for performance of combinations as well as attendance each week up until February 25th.

The series will also be incorporating two legs of the HSI Affiliate Development League on January 29th and February 26th. Full details will be posted on the MEC and Eventing Ireland websites.

Equine jobs note

Equine census date reminder

A REMINDER that the extended closing date for the submission of Equine Census forms to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is Monday, January 17th.

Forms can be submitted by post or online.

This is the first Equine Census undertaken in the State and applies to all keepers of equines, horses, ponies, donkeys or mules.

Big interest in HSI Membership Club

THERE has been a very positive engagement from the equestrian public towards HSI’s new Membership Club which offers personal accident and liability cover.

Available on their website since Christmas week, 441 people have already taken up the various level options with the gold membership proving very popular.

An official launch of the new club will take place at a later date.

HP Eventing dates

PROVISIONAL training dates have been set for High Performance Eventing at Greenogue and is open to all who sent in an expression of interest form for 2022.

Burghley increases prize fund in 2022

THE 2022 Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials will boost an increased prize fund of £320,000, which includes a sum of £100,000 for the winner.

After being cancelled in 2020 and 2021, the event intends of returning “bigger and better” this year, from September 1st to 4th.

Tickets go on sale from April 28th.

Commenting on the announcement, event director Martyn Johnson stated: “I am thrilled that connections at the 2022 event will be able to compete for the largest prize pot in the event’s history.

“Everyone at LRBHT understands the cost and time it takes to produce a five-star horse and the increased prize money reflects the board’s commitment to ensure that Land Rover Burghley continues to be at the pinnacle of our sport.”
