Calling all hunts

THE Laois Hunt proposes to run an arena hunter trials at the National Ploughing Championships in Rathineska, Co Laois on Wednesday, September 20th. Support from other hunts would be most welcome.

It is hoped to have a good sponsor and therefore be in a position to offer a good prize fund. All enquiries please to David Lalor at 087 2542114.

Timmy Wilson RIP

THE death occurred recently of Timmy Wilson, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny. He was a popular figure in the Irish Draught community. The Wilson family stood several stallions down through the years including Shenandoah Prince Holly. Timmy was a familiar ringside sight at shows and inspections.

Tim Jnr, one of his five sons, is a much-respected judge on the circuit. Timmy will be sadly missed by his wife Sheila, sons John, Patsy, Tim, Tommy and Donal, his grandchildren, family and wide circle of friends. May he rest in peace.

Sadie Murphy RIP

THE death occurred recently of Sadie Murphy, Parknashogue Stud, Gorey, Co Kilkenny. Sadie and her late husband Ger stood a range of stallions, most notably the thoroughbreds Love Tale and Weavers Web and Irish Draught, Border Light.

The couple were frequent exhibitors at shows, including Balmoral and Dublin, with their young horses and broodmares. Sadie was a leading figure in the Irish Driving Society and her 27-year-old cob Clyde was brought to her funeral service, attended by family and many friends. May she rest in peace.

RDS stabling rule reminder

AS per the RDS entry rules, exhibitors must take their horses/ponies home after their class is completed due to the pressure on stabling at Dublin Horse Show.
