Zineday sold to USA’s Eve Jobs

PHILIP Weishaupt’s European silver medallist and Olympic horse Zineday has been sold to American rider Eve Jobs. The news was announced on Ludgar Beerbaum’s website this week. “Zineday, Philipp Weishaupt’s top horse, has left the stables in Riesenbeck. The 10-year-old gelding by Zinedine out of L.B Paola will be ridden by the USA’s Eve Jobs in future. We wish the pair all the best for the future.” Zineday was bred at Beerbaum’s stable and produced by Christian Kukuk until 2021, when Weishaupt took over.

Weather cancellations

WEATHER warnings have forced the cancellation or postponement of a number of events this weekend. The Autumn Grand Prix Show at Sceilig has been postponed to Saturday, October 12th due to wind and rain warnings.

The Dressage Ireland show scheduled to take place at Ballindenisk today (Saturday) has been postponed. More information will be available, as soon as a new date has been secured. The South East Region of Dressage Ireland also due to take place today in Spruce Lodge is cancelled due to the high winds being forecast.

Jane Williams RIP

THE equestrian community was saddened to hear of the passing of Jane Williams last week. Jane was a long-serving committee member of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society of Ireland and served on the training committee of the Irish Pony Club.

“It was with great sadness that we learnt yesterday of the passing of our friend and long-serving committee member Jane Williams. Jane was a great advocate of the Welsh Pony and her knowledge and advice will be greatly missed”, the Welsh Pony and Cob Society of Ireland said on social media.

Beloved wife of the late Johnny and loving mother of the late Hugh, she will be sadly missed by her loving son Justin, daughter Ciara, grandchildren Feargus, Lachlan, Joseph, Luke and Andrew, daughter-in-law Emer, son-in-law Alex, brother Christopher, family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

New FEI director of eventing appointed

THE FEI has announced the appointment of Frédérique Reffet Plantier as Director of Eventing. The 39-year-old Reffet Plantier will commence her new duties on January 1st 2025. She will assume leadership of the FEI eventing department, formerly known as the FEI Eventing and Olympic Department. This transition follows the retirement of Catrin Norinder, who has dedicated 37 years of service to the FEI and will conclude her tenure at the end of 2024.

Foaling and neonatal health care course

TEAGASC equine specialists collaborating with the Irish National Stud and Gardens are offering a foaling and neonatal health care course commencing on October 17th. Two afternoon zoom sessions and a half day on farm workshop are provided. Further information is available at www.teagasc.ie
