RDS showing and performance

THE RDS announced the dates and venues for the 2022 show jumping qualifiers for Dublin Horse Show, which will take place from Wednesday, August 17th to Sunday, August 21st, 2022. Much planning for next year’s show has taken place already, and the RDS is looking forward to a return to a top-level international and national event with the full complement of classes and competitions in 2022.

Showing and performance qualifiers for the Breeders’ Championship, Side-Saddle, Racehorse to Riding Horse, Connemara Performance Hunters, Ridden Connemaras, Performance Irish Draughts, Young Event Horses, Junior/Young Rider Event Horses, Combined Training, Three-Year-Old Loose Performance and Three-Year-Old Potential Event Horses will be finalised, and published, early in the new year.

Lansink is Dutch chef d’equipe

JOS Lansink has been named as the new chef d’equipe for The Netherlands’ senior show jumping team, succeeding Rob Ehrens. Well respected in the sport, Lansink had a hugely successful career before calling time on riding internationally in 2018. He competed at seven Olympic Games, six World Equestrian Games and 10 European Championships, representing The Netherlands before switching to ride for Belgium. He won team gold at the Barcelona Olympic Games in 1992 with The Netherlands and in 2006, he became the World Champion in Aachen.

Case adjourned

A COURT case for equine cruelty against a Kilkenny defendant has been adjourned for sentencing until February 22nd, 2022, according to Waterford SPCA. Sentencing was originally listed for December 14th in this case.

ISPCA puppy farm crackdown

ISPCA Animal Welfare Inspectors had a busy 2021, uncovering more than 20 illegal puppy farms, removing hundreds of vulnerable dogs and puppies from unscrupulous breeders. Inspectors have seized or had surrendered to them over 620 dogs in 2021, over 300 of which have come from illegal dog breeders.
